This detached, early 16th-century, Devon longhouse, close to the owner’s home, is situated in a very secluded location in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park. This holiday property, with spectacular views, is just 15 miles from Torbay and within easy reach of Devon’s beaches. The A38 is just 8 miles, and the cathedral city of Exeter and Plymouth are 30 minutes’ drive. Snooty Fox is an ideal base for exploring Dartmoor, Devon and Cornwall. Cosy up in front of the wood burner in the drawing room, which also has comfortable deep sofas and family games. The property has the perfect mixture of rustic country furniture and antiques, canopied and carved beds, exposed stone and a love of horse and hounds throughout - an unashamedly romantic and comfortable getaway. Widecombe-in-the-Moor boasts two excellent, characterful pubs serving locally sourced food, the world famous church known as ‘Cathedral on the Moors’, a National Trust shop, a post office, gift shops and several tea rooms. Castle Drogo (NT) is the last castle built in England in nearby Dartmoor, and there are many other National Trust properties within easy reach. Situated in an AONB is the drama of Dartmoor, with rocky tors, wild ponies, exquisite walks, horse riding, fishing, cycling, falconry and golf at Bovey Castle’s award-winning course. Within 6 - 8 miles are the two picturesque villages of Chagford and Mortenhampstead, historic inns, excellent pubs, tea rooms, curiosity shops, tennis courts and the Miniature Pony Centre. Visit Bigbury-on-Sea, 16 miles, Slapton Sands and Torcross, 22 miles, Dawlish, 15 miles with beach and nature reserve, or Torquay which is within easy reach. A visit to Burgh Island is a must. The Eden Project can be reached in an hour. Shop and pub 2 miles.
