Nestled in the peaceful hamlet of Gilfachrheda, Ty Rhos Mair (Rosemary Cottage) was built in about 1800 and has been restored to provide an elegant and comfortable holiday home. The property, one of a pair, is the perfect base for discovering all that the beautiful and dramatic west Wales coastline has to offer. The unspoilt and sandy beach of Cei Bach is just over half a mile distant, and the picturesque coastal town of New Quay, once the home to Dylan Thomas, is a mile and a half from the cottage. There is a large and pretty rear garden with a summerhouse to enjoy, whilst inside, the cottage has every modern comfort whilst retaining its characterful charm. There are two living rooms to choose from, and on cooler evenings or winter nights, the fireplace with its cosy wood-burning stove is the place to curl up and relax. From New Quay itself, walk along the Wales Coastal Path admiring the stunning views, or just wander around the quaint streets visiting the appealing shops. Here, find plenty of cafés and eateries, and sitting on the stone harbour wall with fish and chips or ice cream, looking out for the frequent visiting bottlenose dolphins, is a past-time not to be missed! Dolphin, wildlife-watching and fishing boat trips are available in season. The wider area has a wealth of attractions to offer year round, including several sandy beaches (Tresaith, Penbryn, Mwnt and Llangranog to name a handful), charming towns such as Aberaeron, with its Georgian harbour and coloured houses, Cardigan with its castle and the interesting town of Aberystwyth, with its 1¼ mile long promenade and from where visitors can take the steam railway into the mountains to Devil’s Bridge. Just a few miles inland, there are the falls at Cenarth, where visitors can watch the trout and salmon swim in the crystal clear waters, or visit the Coracle Museum. Beach under 1 mile. Shop and pub 1 mile.
