Residing close to the centre of the village of Saltwood is this well thought out holiday home, with views across the countryside, a hot tub on the secluded terrace at the rear of the property and a table tennis table in the garage should the weather be inclement! Just ¾ mile from one of the original Cinque Port Towns, Hythe, with its long promenade which makes an ideal spot for picnics. The town and the Shornecliffe Battery mark the start of the 30-mile Royal Military Canal, built during the Napoleonic era as a defensive measure against possible French invasion. Stroll along the banks or take a boat from Hythe Pier and explore the hidden secrets of Hythe. Visit the 11th-century parish church with its famous crypt and ossuary (vaults containing bones of early settlers). Take a 13½ mile ride on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Steam Railway, the world’s smallest public railway, to Dungeness Lighthouse where you can see the bird observatory or Derek Jarman’s Garden at Prospect Cottage. Visit Port Lympne Wild Animal Park which is set in 600 acres and is home to black rhinos, African elephants, tigers, lions and the world’s largest gorillarium. Cycling can be enjoyed at the Lower Leas Coastal Park or Folkestone. Good train links to London and also the continent via the Channel Tunnel. Eurostar is 4 minutes away. Shop and pub 250 yards.
