At the heart of Burns Country, Maidens is just a short walk along the shore to Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction Culzean Castle, part of the National Trust for Scotland, with woods, walks and lakes; and is close to the vast Galloway Country Park for hill walkers and nature lovers. Day trips to Ireland can be taken from Stranraer, whilst a drive north leads to Ayr, 14 miles, a traditional seaside town. The Ayrshire county offers a varying coastline with villages, beaches and rocky coves to explore. Shops and pub, 5 miles, restaurant, 100 yards.
