St Merryn is approximately 1½ miles with its shop, pubs and restaurants including Rick Stein’s pub ’The Cornish Arms’. St Merryn boasts the slogan ‘Seven Bays for seven days’. In addition to these sandy beaches, Padstow is a short drive away with its picturesque harbour, shops and restaurants. Take a ferry trip across the estuary to Rock or explore the Camel Trail by foot or bicycle (cycle hire available locally).

The Ole Ale House is much more than a pub, it is an entertainment venue and foodies heaven. This traditional pub is ideally located in the heart of Truro making is easy to locate where you will be met with a warm and friendly welcome. They serve a diverse variety of ales, craft ciders, speciality beers and lagers, there is something to appeal to all palates accompained by complimentary monkey nuts. The chefs are all River Cottage trained and using the best of locally sourced produce they have created an unusual menu that has so much to offer with delicious home-cooked heart warming dishes, tasty sharing platters and delectable snacks, all perfectly cooked and well presented. The service is friendly and efficient and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive. Food is served each day from middy to 2.30pm and again from 5.30pm to 9.00pm. Kartworld is located in Liskeard and is not far from Newquay or Plymouth, it is home to a purpose built track that promises fun and thrills. They are open throughout the year but only everyday in the school holidays and in July and August the remainder of the year they are open Wednesdays to Sundays as well as bank holidays. There are a choice of track lengths depending on the drivers ages, as well as a infant circuit aimed at those under six. Karts are the latest and fastest models and are well maintained and run well, again there are a choice of karts depending on age. They also provide all protective clothing and again this is in good order and well maintained. Safety is paramount and before going out you are shown how to operate the karts and given a safety briefing and they ensure you are competent with the karts before sending you out. Staff are friendly, trained and helpful especially in getting the younger drivers going. The track is well designed with long straight sections, a chicane and lots of fast twists and turns as well as being wide so it is possible to overtake. At the end of each session you are given a print off of your lap speed. It is not necessary to book you can just turn up and drive. You can come along with family or friends or take on a stranger. It is a fast and exhilarating activity that everyone aged three and over can get involved in, and is suited to all weathers. Kartworld offers fun and thrills in a safe environment to everyone and it is excellently priced for what you receive, a great time to be had by all ages and abilities.
Working to promote the welfare and conservation of the survival of primates, the monkey sanctuary is home to the descendants of pet monkeys rescued in the 60s and 70s as well as to rare species of horseshoe bats.
A visit to the seal sanctuary in picturesque Helston estuary makes a fantastic family day out. In addition to grey and common seals, they also house fur seals and Californian and Patagonian Sea Lions as well as other rescued sea creatures such as dolphins.

The kids farm is great and you can get close to, touch and even feed the animals, there are two play areas, a train and much more. The gardens are beautiful and there is lots of stunning and colourful plants that emit lovely aromas, with lots of benches to sit on, providing a nice relaxed environment. Staff are friendly and will happily answer any questions you have. The Otter Pool Cafe is warm and welcoming and offers a nice selection of drinks, hot and cold dishes and snacks, at reasonable prices. The Gift Shop offers a nice choice of gifts and related souvenirs that are also reasonably priced and there is something to suit all budgets. Paradise park does a great job, it is well kept and very clean and the animals appear to be happy, prices are very reasonable for all that is on offer here, there is something for everyone and makes for a great family day out, highly recommended.
Bude is a small town by the sea in the North of Cornwall with an impressive coastline and fantastic beaches. Bude has plenty of shops, including surf clothing, arts and crafts and souvenirs. Bude has a castle, and a canal with a working lock.
Daymer Bay Beach is a beautiful beach golden sandy beach with dunes that extend from Daymer Bay to Rock. At the north of the bay you will find rock pools to explore and rocks to clamber over. It is very popular with families who love the calm, clear waters that are perfect for swimming in, and when the tide is out there is plenty of opportunity to build sandcastles or enjoy walks along the large stretches of sand. The beach enjoys excellent views out over the Camel Estuary. There is a car park close by making the beach easily accessible. There are toilets located here as well as the Daymer Bay Beach shop and cafe where you can purchase light refreshments as well as beach items although only open seasonally. Daymer Bay Beach is safe and clean and makes for a lovely beach to visit especially if with children and does not get as busy as other beaches nearby.
Polzeath is renowned as a great surfing beach. A gentle walk along the coast path will take you to the picturesque Bedruthen steps or the breathtakingly beautiful Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Fifteen.

Perranporth Beach is one of the finest beaches in Cornwall, and is popular for a variety of activities including, swimming, sailing, snorkelling, surfing and much more. It is a wide beach extending to about three miles of soft golden sand, offering ample space for beach games and the waters are a beautiful clear blue. There are rock pools to explore and the sand dunes are perfect for clambering along as well as providing a natural habitat for a wealth of local wildlife, also caves and caverns just waiting to be explored. Owing to the vastness of the beach it never feels too busy even on those days when it is. It is located close to the town and is easily accessible from here. There is also a beach cafe, The Watering Hole, that serves a good choice of beverages and snacks, they are open during the busy summer months. When the tide is out it is possible to walk along the beach to Ligger Point. Perranport Beach is clean and well patrolled, with a lifeguard in the summer months, it is close to many amenities, a beautiful beach that offers the perfect family day out, with something for everyone, not to be missed if you are in the area.

Crooklets beach is in Bude. There is a cafe with seating at the sea front. It is also where Bude Surf Life Saving Club is located, there are beach huts to hire and an outdoor shower. In the winter, on Christmas Day, hundreds of brave swimmers run into the sea. Crooklets is pebbly and sandy and popular with families as well as surfers.
The Camel Trail is one of the most successful popular walking, cycling and riding routes in the UK, leading through spectacularly beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line linking Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Great for family trips as the route is largely level and there is little traffic. There are bicycle hire shops at Wadebridge and Padstow.
Best explored by canoe, on foot or by bike, this majestic tidal river flows through a gloriously varied landscape, from dark forest, hidden creeks, lush meadowland and timeless villages to the natural harbour at Polruan and Fowey.
A great traffic free and largely level route that is perfect for family outings. At just under 3 miles long, it is an easy and delightful trail to explore.
This 11 mile long-distance footpath and cycle trail links the historic mining harbours of Portreath in the North and Devoran in the South. The trail is mostly off-road and should take about five hours to walk. You can hire bikes at Bissoe, Nancekuke or Portreath.
This is a hilly route taking in forest tracks and quiet coastal and inland lanes in the Looe and Polperro area, as well as a short stretch on a busy road. On reaching the beach section, why not take a break from your exertions?
This fairly energetic route includes five steep hill climbs and some off-road woodland tracks as it follows quiet lanes up the East Looe River to Liskeard, returning via the West Looe Valley. It can also be adapted to start or finish at Liskeard.

The course is challenging but fun. There is no need to book or take along any equipment everything is supplied here. Prices are very reasonable adults play for £7 and children up to 14 are only £4 for a round. There is a nice clubhouse cafe that is welcoming and cosy, where you can relax after a round and enjoy the hospitality and delicious range of hot and cold dishes, snacks and beverages that are all made using local Cornish produce and are real value for money. There is also a nice terrace area for those nice sunny days. They are open From February through to October from 10.00am until dusk each day. Gwinear Pitch and Putt offers a fun and enjoyable round of golf within a beautiful location, excellent hospitality, customer service and prices too, a real gem, highly recommended.
Hayle Golf Range is located in the beautiful location of Hayle within stunning Cornwall countryside. It is a friendly and welcoming centre and the staff are great, professional, amicable and helpful. It has nineteen fully lit, all weather bays offering a safe and protected area to practise your swing and drive. It comes with targets to test your accuracy as well as distance markers. Next to the range is a 12-hole course with a selection of holes that range in length offering the ideal environment to test your skills. The course is scenic, the greens are in good condition, holes are mostly par 3 or 4 but there are a few 5's and it offers challenges to golfers of all abilities. They provide all equipment so you don't need to take anything along. Other facilities available here are a fully-equipped training suite, state of the art indoor golf simulator, pro shop and a new addition is the Croquet Golf course, mini golf with a croquet twist, it offers a fun activity that all the family can play and enjoy. Designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, Rame Head's local habitat provides a haven for many species, especially insects and birds — the Peregrine Falcon can now be seen along with many other birds of prey.
Golitha Falls are found within an ancient area of woodland that is next to the river Fowey that, flows past and then turns into wonderful cascades that drop 90 metres in altitude. The ground is pretty level and offers walks that are suited to most abilities, although not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies, as many areas turn into woodland paths with protruding tree roots. The area extends to eighteen hectares of ancient oak woodland and has been classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest owing to the woodland flora found here, with bluebells, wood anemones and much more thriving here. There is an abundance of wildlife as well with many animals residing in this natural habitat including dormice and several species of bat, moths and butterflies. The river is also home to many species of fish including, salmon, sea trout as well as otters. After heavy rain it is pretty spectacular here as the waters gush over the falls. Although it is a popular spot and can get busy it still maintains a sense of tranquillity and is simply nature at its best. Golitha Falls are not huge waterfalls but more like water rapids regardless they are still impressive and a beautiful sight. If you enjoy nature and lovely woodland walks then Golitha Falls will not disappoint.
In winter, many birds flock to this reservoir including wigeon, coot, tufted duck, poachard and Canada geese. In the spring, a large number of sand martins, house martins and swallows frequent the area.
Part of the Fal Estuary, The area known as the Carrick Roads is so deep it regularly attracts great numbers of sea-going birds in the winter. Looe beach near Feoch seems to offer the best access for viewing one of the largest flocks of wintering Black Neck Grebes in the UK
A large reserve in between the beautiful counties of Cornwall and Devon. The diverse nature of the reserve, from the stunning coastline, inland to wooded areas with heath, grasslands and meadows mean its well worth a visit.
A very English country garden with herbaceous borders and many areas dedicated to different colours of plants. A series of 'garden-rooms' surround the Georgian house. The plants sold here are all grown at Bosvigo and include many hard-to-find species.
The family home to the Tremayne family for over 400 years, this remarkable setting holds a great deal of intrigue and mystery. At the turn of the century decline had set in very rapidly and the gardens were neglected. A storm in 1990 revealed them once again and captured the imagination of those that discovered them. Ties to the 19th century as well as the First World War were found and the daunting task of restoration was begun. Well worth a visit. (Dogs allowed between October and March)
Tender trees and plants flourish at Enys, one of the oldest gardens in Cornwall. Robert de Enys lived here during the reign of Edward I, and in 1709, the garden was noted for its fine planting. Today's garden is based on the designs of 1833.

Skinners Brewery is a relatively new family owned brewers to the Cornwall region but they have already firmly established themselves as distinguished brewers and received a number of awards to reflect this. Their award winning ales are produced here using locally grown barley and other local ingredients and traditional methods to produce their fine ales. They are located in the gorgeous city of Truro and you can take a guided tour of the brewery to see first hand the processes involved in producing their ales, you see a short DVD presentation and then get shown around the site, you can taste the hops as well as seeing the brewing process. The staff are excellent, friendly, animated and knowledgeable they make the tour interesting, humorous and informative. There is a visitor centre where you can relax and enjoy a sample of some of their award winning ales in a traditional pub setting. Skinners Brewery is a fantastic brewery tour, one of the best around and should not be missed even if you are not an ale connoisseur.

Set on the rugged Cornish coastline, Tintagel has attracted poets, artists, historians and sightseers since the Victorian era. It is famous for its associations with the legend of King Arthur and the round table.
Poppy Cottage Garden is located in the centre of the stunning Roseland Peninsula, the grounds extend to about one acre and provide a riot of colour all through the year. The planting is arranged into a series of rooms, being individual small gardens that are planted with bulbs, herbaceous, grasses, shrubs and exotic plants, that have all been strategically placed, the lawns are immaculate and there are some water features too. The owner is very friendly and really knowledgeable about plants and very hospitable too. Poppy Cottage Garden are delightful gardens with stunning planning and offers plenty of ideas if you are a keen gardener, as well as a lovely escape from the bustle amongst the peace and tranquillity of these gorgeous gardens.

They have the biggest selection of Quads and one of the best circuits around, the track extends to over a mile with long runs, jumps, tight corners and banked corners. The Looe Valley line connects the busy market town of Liskeard with the charming fishing port of Looe. Godrevy Head is located at the far end of St Ives Bay. The coastline here is breathtaking and the area is so tranquil and peaceful. It offers the opportunity to see a seal colony that reside here in the cove, they often come onto the beach to stretch out and bask in the sunshine, make sure to take along a pair of binoculars to get the best views of them. It also offers lovely walks along the cliff tops, the sand or amongst the dunes. Children will love searching out stones and shells, or examining the rock pools. The Cathedral has a long history and incorporates part of an old church dating to at least 1259, the first stone for the current Cathedral was laid in May 1880 with work finishing in 1887. Inside a sense of peace and reflection emits from the building which is very calming. The inside is equally as stunning as the exterior having undergone considerable restoration, there are fantastic stained glass windows, spectacular woodwork and carvings, intricate plasterwork, it is so ornate and beautiful, real craftsmanship is on display here. There are guided tours operated by experienced guides who will tell you all about the intriguing history of the Cathedral, they are both friendly and knowledgeable. The Cathedral is open every day throughout the year so visiting couldn't be easier. There is no charge to enter the Cathedral but they do rely on donations and there are boxes around where a donation can be made. Another way of helping is buying one of the guidebooks which are on sale in the gift shop or perhaps a coffee from the coffee shop. Truro Cathedral is a simply stunning historic building with many wonderful features and a rich history too, it is a lovely place to walk around soaking up the tranquil atmosphere and history.

Wheal Peevor is an amazing ancient tin mine site located close to Redruth. The site underwent restoration to make it a safe, educational and enjoyable area for visitors. Work was needed to make the twelve mineshafts safe as well as the three Grade II listed engine houses. There is much to explore here from the three engine houses, remains of mining relics, to the network of tracks and trails that cover the site as well as a great selection of flora and fauna. As you wander around you will come across finder points and interpretation boards that provide a detailed and comprehensive history of the site. It has an interesting history playing an important role during World War One. The engine houses are predominantly ruins but you can get feel of how it would have been, the mineshafts are impressive with some shafts extending to 600ft. There is no admission charge for Wheal Peevor and it is accessible at all times. From its vantage point you get fabulous views of the surrounding countryside, and can enjoy the peacefulness of the area and the lovely walks it provides.
Enterprise Boats is a well established family business offering you boat rides that take you to see some of the most picturesque and beautiful coastlines, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are three boats in the fleet, they are all similar in specification, length and painted in the same colours with each boat taking over 120 passengers, all are excellently maintained. On board you can get a snacks and hot refreshments and there are toilet facilities as well. They offer a choice of leisurely tours that take you past iconic maritime locations, historic houses and landmarks, take you close to ocean going vessels that are anchored up on the far end of Fal, the scenery is constantly changing. All tours are accompanied by an informative and interesting running commentary from the boat's skipper. You will find the staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable and professional and they are very accommodating and happy to pass on local information on things to see and do. In addition they offer private hire for relaxing evening or day charters. Enterprise Boats offer an alternative way to see this stunning area, the tour from Truro to Falmouth take about an hour and a half. The tours are excellent value for money and there are a choice of options available, tours operate on most days during the season depending on the weather. East Pool Mine is located at the centre of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, over two sites that are only about five hundred metres apart, where you will find here a great representation of the former and powerful mining industrial heritage of the area. The main site is East Pool mine that is home to two large beam engines that were powered by high-pressure steam boilers. They are maintained in the towering engine houses and serve as a reflection of Cornwall's days as a world renowned centre of industry, engineering and innovation. The pumping engine here is the biggest remaining Cornish beam engine in the world. The restored winding engine can be seen operating each day. The Discovery Centre offers the opportunity to watch films, see a number of interesting and informative displays and models, and there are knowledgeable guides who have an in depth knowledgeable of the history of Cornish mining and will impart the dramatic history of the area and a number of interesting stories. It is a great family and hands on attraction with special activities to entertain children, including dressing up, and they are able to interact and touch many of the exhibits. There is a small area near reception where you can get tea and coffee, also located here is a small shop that sells a nice choice of mining related items and local history books. Being an old mine there are a number of steps and uneven pathways so might not be suitable for everyone. St Hugh's Church is located in the heart of the charming village of Quethiock, in a peaceful and picturesque spot. A church has been on this site as far back as Norman times although there was most likely a Celtic settlement on the site around the 6th century, dedicated to Saint Cadoc. In the grounds is an ancient Celtic Cross that stands at more than 13 feet high and is in great condition, it dates from either the 7th or 9th century. The original Norman church was cruciform. The current church was mostly constructed in the 14th century and is made of sandstone, it is beautifully preserved and maintained. There are many original fine features of this lovely church remaining including the wagon roof a great example of pre-reformation work thought to have been done by the monks of Tavistock Abbey, in addition to brass memorials, marble memorials, a sundial, stained glass windows, a wall painting behind the altar and lovely wood workings, the slender tower that rises from the roof is unusual. It still holds regular services on a Sunday where everyone is welcome to join the friendly congregation. St Hugh's Church serves as a reminder of the social and religious history of England, it has a lovely atmospheric feel and provides a place of solace and for reflection amidst its modest surroundings, worth seeking out if you are in the area and like history and old buildings.

Bude Castle overlooks Summerleaze beach, and is often used throughout the summer for concerts and events. It was built on the sand by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, an inventor, in 1830 as his home. The castle is now a heritage centre which has galleries, a shop, restaurant and much more.
