Penn An Vownder is a lovely detached holiday property located in the heart of Falmouth. It is within easy walking distance to beaches, town centre with shops, restaurants, bars, galleries, cinema and the famous National Maritime Museum located in Events Square. The town boasts some of Cornwall’s most beautiful sandy beaches, inlcuding the award-winning local Gyllyngvase Beach. There is a vibrant beach café popular with families and water sports enthusiasts, or those looking to simply relax and bathe in crystal clear waters over looked by Pendennis Castle, built in the mid-16th century by Henry VIII. The area is well respected by foodies with Rick Stein’s restaurant, famous Fal Fresh Fish and many food and drink events attracting guests from around the world. The harbour is a constant busy back drop hosting numerous prestigious sailing events throughout the year. The harbour attracts many world-class yachts to its natural deep harbour. Events Square is the home to a superb calendar of events, including Falmouth week in August, a must for those who love live music, fancy dress and a great atmosphere. There are a number of nationally acclaimed local sub-tropical gardens to visit including Trebah, Durgan and Trelissick. Take a sea safari to watch basking sharks, dolphins, seals and an array of sea life, or jump aboard one of many small ferries to see the delights of the surrounding waterways, including picturesque Helford River, St Mawes with its castle mirroring Pendennis on the opposite headland or the famous creeks of Carrick Roads.
