Orchard House dates back to the 1870s and nestles on the edge of the village of Martham, which is conveniently located midway between the Norfolk Broads and the North Sea. The village has two pubs and a selection of shops and it is thought to have the only thatched fish and chips shop in Norfolk. The holiday property is full of charm and character with many original features, wooden floors and original fire places, making it ideal holiday accommodation for any time of the year. Orchard House is situated 3 miles from the lovely East Norfolk Coast seaside resort of Winterton-on-Sea, with its roots in fishing. Here you will find wonderful beaches with extensive sand dunes and a small village with a few shops and a village pub. The sand dunes are nature reserve classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and ideal for bird watching and walking. Just north of Winterton is a colony of grey seals that can be regularly seen basking on the beach or popping their heads up over the waves. The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth is 9 miles away with its pier entertainment and amusements and the Time and Tide Museum. The North Norfolk Coast is well worth exploring with its pretty coastal villages. For children, Belwilderwood, at Horning, offers an outdoor tree house adventure park with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat trips which all combined add up to a great day out. Alternatively the fine city of Norwich, 15 miles, makes a good day out with cathedrals, museums, theatres and a vast array of cafés and shops. There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area which include Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest 17th-century country Jacobean houses in East Anglia), Blickling Hall (a magnificent Jacobean house with woodlands and lakeside walks) and Sheringham Park (beautifully landscaped and renowned for its spectacular displays of azaleas and rhododendrons in late spring) and there is Horsey Windmill which is just 3 miles away. Walking and cycling can be enjoyed along the network of quiet lanes and the bird watching is very rewarding. Shop and pub 1 mile.
