It covers a large area and offers a variety of obstacles with high ropes, zip wires and high jump all form part of the course. There is also a rock climbing wall, archery, air rifles, assault course and water zorbing. There are different range levels from easy to difficult so the ropes offer a challenge to everyone. They are well organised and the activity is well run. Safety is paramount and you are given a full safety briefing and the equipment is explained before you start. Staff are always close by if you encounter any problems, you will find them to be friendly, helpful and professional. They are also encouraging if heights aren't your forte. Prices are very reasonable and offer great value for money. They are open Tuesday to Sunday, and booking in advance is recommended, each session will last about an hour. Make sure to wear suitable footwear and clothing that you can easily move in. There is the Bunker or Canteen where you can get beverages and hot and cold snacks at reasonable prices. Rope Runners offers a fun and challenging activity that all the family can get involved in, the minimum age is six, you will be very popular if you take the children here on a day out.
Barnards Farm Miniature Railway is run by a team of volunteers, it opened back in September 2010 and has been a continual source of fun and enjoyment for families. The track is a 7 1/4 inch gauge that takes steam, diesel/hydraulic, petrol and electric locomotives, it runs from the car park to Belevedere Station and back which covers 1.4km, you can see the sculptures in the garden as you travel along. The train operates from April through to December on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays as well as Saturdays in the summer months, it also opens for special open days at other times. A great place to visit especially if you have children that love Thomas the Tank Engine. Afterwards you can visit the gardens and enjoy some refreshments here in the welcoming and homely barn. The cost for the railway is very reasonable and once paid you have access to the trains all day. They do Santa Specials at Christmas time. The staff are lovely, really friendly and helpful. They are looking to extend the track so it will offer an even better experience. Barnards Farm Miniature Railway is a lovely day out for all the family, relaxing and fun, a real treat.
Norden Farm Centre for the Arts has been a focal part of the community since 2000, it provides a suitable venue for both amateur and professional performers to show their talents, to locals and visitors. Bentley Golf Club is quite a new course but has already established itself as a premier club here in Essex. It is an 18 hole parkland course designed by Alex Swan and is located in lovely surroundings, with a good variety of holes. This rolling course is tricky in some places and therefore offers challenges to all level of player, it also has a number of obstacles including water features, deep bunkers, ditches and trees. The course is well maintained, the greens are fast and smooth. The most memorable hole on the course is the sixteenth. The club is very welcoming to non members and the staff throughout are very friendly, helpful and professional. The facilities here are very good and the clubhouse is comfortable and welcoming and they have a good menu, the food is very good, well cooked and presented and represents real value for money. There is also a putting green and practice green here. Bentley Golf Club is a great club to play, friendly staff, beautiful course and really reasonable green fees, it ticks all the boxes, highly recommended.
Sevenoaks Vine Cricket Club has a long history with evidence of cricket dating back to 1734. Located in the centre of Sevenoaks, this beautiful club avails of fantastic views across the North Downs. The club is totally amateur and they are an accredited Focus Club and play Kent Premier League cricket here. It provides a place of peace and tranquillity with two nature trails that you can follow and enjoy the scenery and sounds of the woodlands. There are also a number of rustic benches dotted around where you can sit and savour the peacefulness of the reserve. Noak Bridge Nature Reserve also serves as a natural habitat to a number of wildlife and insects, including butterflies, several species of dragonfly, whirligig bettles, frogs, newts, ducks, jays and woodpeckers . There are five permanent and two temporary ponds located here, that provide great growing conditions for a number of plants and shrubs as well as a home for grass snakes. The reserve is attended to by volunteers who do a great job in maintaining the area, they have installed bird nesting boxes and bat boxes in the quieter and more isolated areas of the reserve. If you are in the area take some time to visit Noak Bridge Nature Reserve it makes for a pleasant way to pass a few hours in lovely surroundings.

The house was previously owned by Henry and Daisy Colbeck who were responsible for planting and designing the gardens, many of the unique and exotic plants being brought back from their overseas travels. Delightfully informal, Emmett's Garden is not very large — it covers an area of about 4 acres at the highest point in Kent on the 600 foot sandstone ridge so there are wonderful views. Its stunning rock garden has recently been restored.
Worth Park Gardens is currently undergoing some major renovations to bring it back to its former glory however, it is still a stunning park with many wonderful features including, formal gardens, parkland, woodland, play area, football pitch, tennis courts, lake, fishing and croquet green. It is a historic park that extends to more than 40 acres and was at one time a part of the Forest of Worth. During its heyday it was a prime example of a premier Victorian pleasure garden and landscape and royal hunting ground. The volunteers that run these gardens hold frequent workshops and garden visits, there is no entrance charge although a donation of £1 is suggested, if you want to find out more about the grounds and history. Worth Park Gardens offers children the ideal environment to run around and let off steam, as well as offering nice leisurely strolls and some nice views as you walk around and some local wildlife. When the works have been completed the gardens will be stunning that is not to say that they can still not be enjoyed.

They were opened by the local people of Crawley after the first World War to commemorate those who lost their lives in the war. Today they provide a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Within these beautiful grounds is a nice collection of mature trees, shrubs and flowers, sculptures by local engineering students, as well as a big enclosed play area for children. The grounds are well maintained and they are continually planting and redesigning the gardens to provide lots of colour and aromas, it is a lovely park and looks great all year round.

The staff are very good friendly, helpful and attentive and enhance the experience here. Croydon Airport Visitor Centre is a new community venture that is operated by volunteers and opened back in 2000. It is located in Airport House a lovely Art Deco building and opens on the first Sunday of every month during the year, it opens from 11.00am to 4.00pm, there is no charge for admission but, they do accept donations. It is a historic building being the birthplace of modern air traffic control. It is located in the world's oldest Air Traffic Control Tower, although the exhibition space is not very big it holds loads, there is a fantastic collection of interactive displays, exhibits and visual images documenting the history of Croydon airport as a World War I airfield through to being London's first international airport and its eventual closure in 1959. You do not have to book in advance for the guided tours. The volunteers are brilliant, so polite, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Cloud 9 Pantry is a lovely cafe that serves a nice selection of snacks and light lunches, prices are very good. They operate a number of Open Days throughout the year, so worth keeping an eye out for these. Croydon Airport Visitor Centre is a must if you like aviation history, even you aren't a aviation fan there is plenty to keep you entertained and interested, an enjoyable and pleasant attraction.

King George's Playing Fields are located in Brentwood and are situated close to the town. The park extends to seventy three acres and comprises of woodland, formal gardens, childrens play area, paddling pools, playing fields, bowling greens, crazy golf, skate park, cafe and a special garden for the blind with an assortment of plants that stimulate their other senses. The paddling pools are only open during the school summer holidays depending on the weather, it is only accessible to those under twelve years of age, sessions last two hours and attract a small charge. Thorndon Country Park is divided into Thorndon Park North, that is home to the Countryside Centre and Thorndon Park South. The park covers hundreds of acres and was an ancient deer park that dates back to the 15th century. Within the park you will find a great variety of trees, grassland and three small lakes as well as a diverse range of habitats for the local wildlife. The Countryside Centre was constructed from timber salvaged from the 1987 storms, it is home to a permanent exhibition, a shop that sells gifts and refreshments. The park has lots to explore with its varying landscapes, and provides a number of lovely walks and cycle paths, you can take your own bike or hire one here, it is well laid out and sign posted. You can also horse ride here as long as you adhere to the areas marked with a blue arrow. Fishing is available, you are required to purchase a day ticket, you will find carp and bream here. Or maybe fly a kite and have a picnic, there is ample things to do. Children will love the Woodland Walks, along the way you will find a number of play areas, wooden constructions and teepees, or they can climb trees and build dens. Also if you are a fan of the Gruffalo you will love hunting for the characters and can purchase a map for 50p, great fun for all. Childerditch Pond is beautiful and tranquil and offers a place to get away from it all. Although the interior is lovely the gardens are equally beautiful regardless of the time of year and are well worth a visit, the Prince of Wales conservatory is fantastic with many wonderful features and there are also other conservatories there with one dating from Victorian times. There are lots of pretty walks that you can enjoy, in the peace and tranquillity of these beautiful gardens. Queens Charlotte's Cottage is another interesting building here as inside you can see how the building was constructed and is an early example of a cottage orne, it was not intended as a residence but as somewhere to rest and have tea if walking in the garden. The guides throughout are great, really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions you might have. Kew Palace closes for the winter, it opens from April through to September although, the gardens are open all year round. There is a charge for entry to the gardens and a further charge to enter Kew Palace. Although not large or ornate it is still an interesting historic building with a certain charm and appeal and most certainly worth visiting.

Croydon Minster can be found in Church Street and is easily accessible by train or tram. Herfordshire Fire Station portrays the history of fire-fighting down the ages, they have a nice selection of artefacts and memorabilia relating to the fire service. There is no entry charge but donations are welcome. This intimate museum is operated by former fire service officers so they have all the answers to your questions, you will find them to be jovial and helpful, and they have many stories to tell of their time in the fire service. Some of the machines on display are two 19th century hand manual fire appliances, a 1896 Shand-Mason horse drawn steam powered fire engine, a 1937 Leyland fire appliance as well as a 1972 Dennis trailer pump that was in service during the Second World War, this is not an exhaustive list there is much more to see here. There are interactive exhibits where you can try on the uniforms and equipment that can be operated. There is an enormous photographic display, documents and resource library. During your visit you will also become more aware of safety issues which, can only be a good thing.You will find the museum open on one Saturday per month, from 1pm to 4pm, and only from April to September, check the Website for the actual dates. Please be aware that the museum is located on an operational fire station so there will be moving vehicles and parking is limited. Dorney Court is a magnificent Tudor Manor House that has been in same family for more than 500 years. Dorney Court is a truly mesmerising and stunning house that has been lovingly maintained to retain its character and charm and is further enhanced by the glorious gardens.
Frogmore Paper Mill is a unique mill that is located in Apsley, it is the worlds oldest mechanised paper mill. To this day it continues to be a working paper mill producing an incredible 100 tonnes of specialist grade paper on their historic machines. During a visit you will get to see the process of paper making as well as making your own piece of paper that you can take home with you, get an insight into the local history and see the industrial machinery in operation, as well as old machines such as the 120 year old steam driven machine, in addition you can visit the inhouse fire-station and even see a book binding demonstration. There is also a Memory Bank commemorating the history of the mill and stories of the people involved with the mill and the history of paper. They are open throughout the week with guided tours at 11.15am, 1.00pm and 5.45pm, full details can be got from the website. The guides are friendly, informative and very knowledgeable and the tours are given at just the right level for all to enjoy. There is a nice cafe that serves a selection of beverages and snacks, that you can enjoy whilst looking out at the River Gade. The onsite shop sells a selection of the paper it produces both machine and handmade, in addition there is a gallery that is free to look around and exhibits individual artists at different times, the artwork on display is for sale. Afterwards you can for an extra cost take a boat trip around the mill. It can be cold in the mill so ensure you take along something warm to wear. Frogmore Paper Mill is an intriguing and mesmerising look into the history and production of paper, there is so much to gather from a visit and it is an outing that everyone will enjoy, highly recommended.
Knole House is hidden away in a mediaeval deer-park amongst more than one thousand acres of parkland. It is an enormous estate that has a long and varied history dating back to 1456 when building commenced, eventually finishing in 1486 when it was commissioned by the Archbishop's of Canterbury and served as his palace, it was owned by royals and then passed to the Sackville family, by Queen Elizabeth I, and they have inhabited the house from 1603 through to the present. The house is splendid both inside and outside with numerous architectural delights, from the intricate plaster work, wooden panelling, fine paintings, antique furniture and much more. Located in the show rooms are works of art by Reynolds, Gainsborough and Van Dyck. The rooms that you can view as a visitor are astonishing and are resplendent with original furniture and fittings that are being carefully preserved for future generations. Close to the visitors entrance a video runs giving a synopsis of the history of Knole. There are volunteers in the house who are both friendly and knowledgeable and they will happily assist with any information you need. The house is open during the summer months from April through to November but, the grounds continue to be open throughout the year, along with the outdoor cafe. There is a charge for admission to the house. The grounds are extensive and offer lots of opportunity to explore, you can see the resident deer who roam the grounds, enjoy the beautiful gardens and the peace and tranquillity they offer. There are lots of walks to choose from that vary in distance. Throughout the year Knole House runs a series of events, exhibitions and activities to cater to all preferences, it is worth checking to see what is on. Knole House is of full of historical significance and gives a true insight into the grandeur of the past of this house and its inhabitants, it is an atmospheric and enthralling house that will leave you wanting to return.
Maidenhead Heritage Centre is a great source of information on the local area, and takes in the varied history from Roman times right through to present day. There is a permanent exhibition, "Story of Maidenhead" that encompasses lots of items, the oldest dating back more than 4000 years, the towns involvement in racing cars, the renowned Hammer House of Horror films, the growth of the railways, World War II and so much more. On the first floor of the museum is "Grandma Flew Spitfires" that is an exhibit dedicated to Air Transport Auxiliary, it has probably the largest collection of ATA memorabilia and records around, the story is told through uniforms, photographs, letters, log books, local records, diaries and personal recollections. Whilst here for a charge you can experience the amazing Spitfire simulator. The centre runs a number of different events and different exhibitions during the year so if thinking of visiting do check to see what is taking place. Maidenhead Heritage Centre is an astounding and intriguing place to visit, the staff are so friendly and helpful, there is so much to see and do and the exhibits are done in a way that they will appeal to both adults and children alike.

Stevenage Museum unfolds the development of Stevenage from its inception in the Stone Age, through to its evolution into the first new town and through to current day. The museum is located beneath St. Andrew and St. George's church and is clearly sign posted. There is no charge for entry to the museum but for certain events there will be a nominal charge. It is an intimate museum and all exhibits are all found on one level making it accessible for all visitors. Housed in the museum is a large collection of items with more than 18,0000 photographs and 10,000 objects, that are well displayed and have lots of information. You will be amazed by all the history there is for such a new town, it also has interactive attractions to appeal to the children. The exhibits do change frequently. They operate a number of events as well as readings so it is worth checking their website to see what is taking place that might be of interest. The staff are friendly and helpful and will enhance your visit to the museum.
