Rope Runners offers a fun, thrilling and energetic outdoor adventure up amongst the trees. It covers a large area and offers a variety of obstacles with high ropes, zip wires and high jump all form part of the course. There is also a rock climbing wall, archery, air rifles, assault course and water zorbing. There are different range levels from easy to difficult so the ropes offer a challenge to everyone. They are well organised and the activity is well run. Safety is paramount and you are given a full safety briefing and the equipment is explained before you start. Staff are always close by if you encounter any problems, you will find them to be friendly, helpful and professional. They are also encouraging if heights aren't your forte. Prices are very reasonable and offer great value for money. They are open Tuesday to Sunday, and booking in advance is recommended, each session will last about an hour. Make sure to wear suitable footwear and clothing that you can easily move in. There is the Bunker or Canteen where you can get beverages and hot and cold snacks at reasonable prices. Rope Runners offers a fun and challenging activity that all the family can get involved in, the minimum age is six, you will be very popular if you take the children here on a day out.
Barnards Farm Miniature Railway is run by a team of volunteers, it opened back in September 2010 and has been a continual source of fun and enjoyment for families. The track is a 7 1/4 inch gauge that takes steam, diesel/hydraulic, petrol and electric locomotives, it runs from the car park to Belevedere Station and back which covers 1.4km, you can see the sculptures in the garden as you travel along. The train operates from April through to December on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays as well as Saturdays in the summer months, it also opens for special open days at other times. A great place to visit especially if you have children that love Thomas the Tank Engine. Afterwards you can visit the gardens and enjoy some refreshments here in the welcoming and homely barn. The cost for the railway is very reasonable and once paid you have access to the trains all day. They do Santa Specials at Christmas time. The staff are lovely, really friendly and helpful. They are looking to extend the track so it will offer an even better experience. Barnards Farm Miniature Railway is a lovely day out for all the family, relaxing and fun, a real treat.

This rolling course is tricky in some places and therefore offers challenges to all level of player, it also has a number of obstacles including water features, deep bunkers, ditches and trees. The course is well maintained, the greens are fast and smooth. The most memorable hole on the course is the sixteenth. The club is very welcoming to non members and the staff throughout are very friendly, helpful and professional. The facilities here are very good and the clubhouse is comfortable and welcoming and they have a good menu, the food is very good, well cooked and presented and represents real value for money. There is also a putting green and practice green here. Bentley Golf Club is a great club to play, friendly staff, beautiful course and really reasonable green fees, it ticks all the boxes, highly recommended.
Woodlands Manor Golf Club is a long established club, located in the valley and offers some spectacular views. It is an 18 hole par 69 mature parkland golf course. The course is well designed and maintained and in very good condition, the fairways play long, the greens are fast and the rough is thick . It is a testing course and will therefore, challenge all level of golf player, with its undulating fairways and alterations in elevation. There are beautiful views from some of the holes, the eigth hole in particular. You will find Woodlands to be a very welcoming and friendly club and the staff to be friendly, hospitable and most professional. As you walk around you will continually be met by the most friendly and hospitable people you will encounter. They are passionate about what do do here and are more than happy to discuss what they do and show you the animals, grounds, gardens and temple. There is free food to feed the cattle and you are shown around on an ox driven cart to see how they practice sustainable farming. The produce that they grow here can be purchased, it was lovely to go home with fresh vegetables, in addition there is a gift shop and bakery, serving a nice selection of goods. They also offer free food to all guests to the manor what an unusual and pleasing thing to do. if you can visit when there is a spiritual event on you will find it to be an extraordinary experience, one you can't describe. You can get what you want from a visit to Bhaktivedanta Manor be it the history of Hare Krishna, tour of the manor, food, prayers, spiritual knowledge or simply a chat with one of the devotees, you get their full attention and the reception you receive is wonderful. They do not try to convert or preach to you, so just come and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Bhaktivedanta Manor.
Fairfield Halls have been an important and important social and cultural hub here in Croydon for more than fifty years. It attracts some of the biggest stars and hosts a diverse and entertaining schedule of performances including comedy, dance, opera, music, drama, cinema and much more. Inside it is modern and roomy and well laid out, it has excellent facilities also the acoustics and lighting are very good. Seating is comfortable and roomy enough. As it is not a huge theatre it has a nice intimate and friendly feel about it. There is a nice bar area that stocks a good selection of drinks that are fairly priced and a cafe that serves a good selection of snacks and refreshments at very reasonable prices. The staff are very good friendly, helpful and attentive and enhance the experience here. Fairfield Halls are the perfect venue to see a major production in a locally, reasonable ticket prices and a nice friendly venue.

Croydon Airport Visitor Centre is a new community venture that is operated by volunteers and opened back in 2000. It is located in Airport House a lovely Art Deco building and opens on the first Sunday of every month during the year, it opens from 11.00am to 4.00pm, there is no charge for admission but, they do accept donations. It is a historic building being the birthplace of modern air traffic control. It is located in the world's oldest Air Traffic Control Tower, although the exhibition space is not very big it holds loads, there is a fantastic collection of interactive displays, exhibits and visual images documenting the history of Croydon airport as a World War I airfield through to being London's first international airport and its eventual closure in 1959. You do not have to book in advance for the guided tours. The volunteers are brilliant, so polite, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Cloud 9 Pantry is a lovely cafe that serves a nice selection of snacks and light lunches, prices are very good. They operate a number of Open Days throughout the year, so worth keeping an eye out for these. Croydon Airport Visitor Centre is a must if you like aviation history, even you aren't a aviation fan there is plenty to keep you entertained and interested, an enjoyable and pleasant attraction.

Cassiobury Park is a beautiful park and is the biggest public open space in Watford and encompasses more than 190 acres, incorporating open green spaces, woodland, countryside and beautiful canals and is open everyday. Within the park you will find a large choice of activities to cater to all visitors including sporting facilities and attractions for children, in addition throughout the year a number of popular sporting and entertainment events are hosted here. King George's Playing Fields are located in Brentwood and are situated close to the town. The park extends to seventy three acres and comprises of woodland, formal gardens, childrens play area, paddling pools, playing fields, bowling greens, crazy golf, skate park, cafe and a special garden for the blind with an assortment of plants that stimulate their other senses. The paddling pools are only open during the school summer holidays depending on the weather, it is only accessible to those under twelve years of age, sessions last two hours and attract a small charge. Thorndon Country Park is divided into Thorndon Park North, that is home to the Countryside Centre and Thorndon Park South. The Countryside Centre was constructed from timber salvaged from the 1987 storms, it is home to a permanent exhibition, a shop that sells gifts and refreshments. The William Morris Gallery was created in honour of famous designer, writer, socialist, conservationist and craftsman, William Morris. Herfordshire Fire Station portrays the history of fire-fighting down the ages, they have a nice selection of artefacts and memorabilia relating to the fire service. There is no entry charge but donations are welcome. This intimate museum is operated by former fire service officers so they have all the answers to your questions, you will find them to be jovial and helpful, and they have many stories to tell of their time in the fire service. Some of the machines on display are two 19th century hand manual fire appliances, a 1896 Shand-Mason horse drawn steam powered fire engine, a 1937 Leyland fire appliance as well as a 1972 Dennis trailer pump that was in service during the Second World War, this is not an exhaustive list there is much more to see here. There are interactive exhibits where you can try on the uniforms and equipment that can be operated. There is an enormous photographic display, documents and resource library. During your visit you will also become more aware of safety issues which, can only be a good thing.You will find the museum open on one Saturday per month, from 1pm to 4pm, and only from April to September, check the Website for the actual dates. Please be aware that the museum is located on an operational fire station so there will be moving vehicles and parking is limited. Frogmore Paper Mill is a unique mill that is located in Apsley, it is the worlds oldest mechanised paper mill. To this day it continues to be a working paper mill producing an incredible 100 tonnes of specialist grade paper on their historic machines. During a visit you will get to see the process of paper making as well as making your own piece of paper that you can take home with you, get an insight into the local history and see the industrial machinery in operation, as well as old machines such as the 120 year old steam driven machine, in addition you can visit the inhouse fire-station and even see a book binding demonstration. There is also a Memory Bank commemorating the history of the mill and stories of the people involved with the mill and the history of paper. They are open throughout the week with guided tours at 11.15am, 1.00pm and 5.45pm, full details can be got from the website. The guides are friendly, informative and very knowledgeable and the tours are given at just the right level for all to enjoy. There is a nice cafe that serves a selection of beverages and snacks, that you can enjoy whilst looking out at the River Gade. The onsite shop sells a selection of the paper it produces both machine and handmade, in addition there is a gallery that is free to look around and exhibits individual artists at different times, the artwork on display is for sale. Afterwards you can for an extra cost take a boat trip around the mill. It can be cold in the mill so ensure you take along something warm to wear. Frogmore Paper Mill is an intriguing and mesmerising look into the history and production of paper, there is so much to gather from a visit and it is an outing that everyone will enjoy, highly recommended.

Maidenhead Heritage Centre is a great source of information on the local area, and takes in the varied history from Roman times right through to present day. There is a permanent exhibition, "Story of Maidenhead" that encompasses lots of items, the oldest dating back more than 4000 years, the towns involvement in racing cars, the renowned Hammer House of Horror films, the growth of the railways, World War II and so much more. On the first floor of the museum is "Grandma Flew Spitfires" that is an exhibit dedicated to Air Transport Auxiliary, it has probably the largest collection of ATA memorabilia and records around, the story is told through uniforms, photographs, letters, log books, local records, diaries and personal recollections. Whilst here for a charge you can experience the amazing Spitfire simulator. The centre runs a number of different events and different exhibitions during the year so if thinking of visiting do check to see what is taking place. Maidenhead Heritage Centre is an astounding and intriguing place to visit, the staff are so friendly and helpful, there is so much to see and do and the exhibits are done in a way that they will appeal to both adults and children alike.

Knole House is hidden away in a mediaeval deer-park amongst more than one thousand acres of parkland. It is an enormous estate that has a long and varied history dating back to 1456 when building commenced, eventually finishing in 1486 when it was commissioned by the Archbishop's of Canterbury and served as his palace, it was owned by royals and then passed to the Sackville family, by Queen Elizabeth I, and they have inhabited the house from 1603 through to the present. The house is splendid both inside and outside with numerous architectural delights, from the intricate plaster work, wooden panelling, fine paintings, antique furniture and much more. Located in the show rooms are works of art by Reynolds, Gainsborough and Van Dyck. The rooms that you can view as a visitor are astonishing and are resplendent with original furniture and fittings that are being carefully preserved for future generations. Close to the visitors entrance a video runs giving a synopsis of the history of Knole. There are volunteers in the house who are both friendly and knowledgeable and they will happily assist with any information you need. The house is open during the summer months from April through to November but, the grounds continue to be open throughout the year, along with the outdoor cafe. There is a charge for admission to the house. The grounds are extensive and offer lots of opportunity to explore, you can see the resident deer who roam the grounds, enjoy the beautiful gardens and the peace and tranquillity they offer. There are lots of walks to choose from that vary in distance. Throughout the year Knole House runs a series of events, exhibitions and activities to cater to all preferences, it is worth checking to see what is on. Knole House is of full of historical significance and gives a true insight into the grandeur of the past of this house and its inhabitants, it is an atmospheric and enthralling house that will leave you wanting to return.
Stevenage Museum unfolds the development of Stevenage from its inception in the Stone Age, through to its evolution into the first new town and through to current day. The museum is located beneath St. Andrew and St. George's church and is clearly sign posted. There is no charge for entry to the museum but for certain events there will be a nominal charge. It is an intimate museum and all exhibits are all found on one level making it accessible for all visitors. Housed in the museum is a large collection of items with more than 18,0000 photographs and 10,000 objects, that are well displayed and have lots of information. You will be amazed by all the history there is for such a new town, it also has interactive attractions to appeal to the children. The exhibits do change frequently. They operate a number of events as well as readings so it is worth checking their website to see what is taking place that might be of interest. The staff are friendly and helpful and will enhance your visit to the museum.
