Good bird-watching and fishing can be enjoyed from the property and a games room offers visitors table tennis and a pool table to while away spare time. A paradise for nature lovers, the Broads are the most important wetlands in Europe and are alive with ducks, geese and swans, as well as a host of other birdlife including spoonbills and herons. The area is crisscrossed by numerous footpaths and cycling trails, ideal for exploring on foot or by bicycle. The 61-mile Weavers’ Way is a long-distance footpath that winds through the best parts of the Broads on its way from Cromer to Great Yarmouth.
Wroxham, the ‘capital’ of the Broads lies within easy reach, boasting many waterside cafés, restaurants, shops, railway station and other amenities. Using the river launch provided, it makes a pleasant way to discover the region, stopping off along the way.
The city of Norwich (8 miles) with its cathedral and castle museum offers varied attractions including excellent shopping and market place, as well as cafés and fine restaurants to tempt the taste buds. For golfing enthusiasts, a golf course is to be found at Sprowston Hall 6 miles away, whilst for a family day by the sea, sandy beaches can be found along the Norfolk coast, just 11 miles distant.
