This substantial, spacious family home boasts two living rooms, a large games room, gardens and plenty of original features. Standing detached and set at the top of this Cornish village with its pubs, the property is well placed to visit all that this lovely part of North Cornwall has to offer. Close by are the seven golden bays, which are dotted along this coast, offering surfing or just a relaxing family beach holiday. Padstow, with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants, including Rick Stein’s famous fish restaurant is a short drive away. Boat trips from the harbour can be taken across to Rock or the Camel Trail can be enjoyed, which leads to Bodmin Moor and offers cycling, walking and horse riding along the Camel Estuary, and which is abundant in wildlife. Also close by is Watergate Bay, the home of kite surfing and the beautiful beach setting for Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant. Newquay is just down the coast where guests will find the famous surfing beach at Fistral, as well as the zoo and Blue Reef Aquarium, and a number of family-friendly beaches.

Kartworld is located in Liskeard and is not far from Newquay or Plymouth, it is home to a purpose built track that promises fun and thrills. They are open throughout the year but only everyday in the school holidays and in July and August the remainder of the year they are open Wednesdays to Sundays as well as bank holidays. There are a choice of track lengths depending on the drivers ages, as well as a infant circuit aimed at those under six. Karts are the latest and fastest models and are well maintained and run well, again there are a choice of karts depending on age. They also provide all protective clothing and again this is in good order and well maintained. Safety is paramount and before going out you are shown how to operate the karts and given a safety briefing and they ensure you are competent with the karts before sending you out. Staff are friendly, trained and helpful especially in getting the younger drivers going. The track is well designed with long straight sections, a chicane and lots of fast twists and turns as well as being wide so it is possible to overtake. At the end of each session you are given a print off of your lap speed. It is not necessary to book you can just turn up and drive. You can come along with family or friends or take on a stranger. It is a fast and exhilarating activity that everyone aged three and over can get involved in, and is suited to all weathers. Kartworld offers fun and thrills in a safe environment to everyone and it is excellently priced for what you receive, a great time to be had by all ages and abilities.

Daymer Bay Beach is a beautiful beach golden sandy beach with dunes that extend from Daymer Bay to Rock. At the north of the bay you will find rock pools to explore and rocks to clamber over. It is very popular with families who love the calm, clear waters that are perfect for swimming in, and when the tide is out there is plenty of opportunity to build sandcastles or enjoy walks along the large stretches of sand. The beach enjoys excellent views out over the Camel Estuary. There is a car park close by making the beach easily accessible. There are toilets located here as well as the Daymer Bay Beach shop and cafe where you can purchase light refreshments as well as beach items although only open seasonally. Daymer Bay Beach is safe and clean and makes for a lovely beach to visit especially if with children and does not get as busy as other beaches nearby.

Perranporth Beach is one of the finest beaches in Cornwall, and is popular for a variety of activities including, swimming, sailing, snorkelling, surfing and much more. It is a wide beach extending to about three miles of soft golden sand, offering ample space for beach games and the waters are a beautiful clear blue. There are rock pools to explore and the sand dunes are perfect for clambering along as well as providing a natural habitat for a wealth of local wildlife, also caves and caverns just waiting to be explored. Owing to the vastness of the beach it never feels too busy even on those days when it is. It is located close to the town and is easily accessible from here. There is also a beach cafe, The Watering Hole, that serves a good choice of beverages and snacks, they are open during the busy summer months. When the tide is out it is possible to walk along the beach to Ligger Point. Perranport Beach is clean and well patrolled, with a lifeguard in the summer months, it is close to many amenities, a beautiful beach that offers the perfect family day out, with something for everyone, not to be missed if you are in the area.
Simple and unspoilt, this coarse sand beach can boast the interesting backdrop of the brightly painted daymark on Gribbin Head. Excellent cliff walks over to Fowey, or to the daymark, make it ideal all year round.
A secluded and south facing shingle beach, Lantic Bay gets the very best of the sunshine. With plenty of coves to explore, it's a popular spot for boats to moor.
Relax on the sandy beach of this is a small coastal town. Pay a visit to the small souvenir shops and enjoy an ice-cream whilst walking along the harbour.
Crooklets beach is in Bude. There is a cafe with seating at the sea front. It is also where Bude Surf Life Saving Club is located, there are beach huts to hire and an outdoor shower. In the winter, on Christmas Day, hundreds of brave swimmers run into the sea. Crooklets is pebbly and sandy and popular with families as well as surfers.
Northcott Mouth beach is a national trust beach just north of Bude. The beach is pebbly and sandy and is remote, secluded and beautiful. It has a small car park and in the summer, there is a tea caravan with a rustic garden with seating areas.
A wide and popular sandy beach on the outskirts of Falmouth, that is also a favourite location for watersports enthusiasts. In the summer the beach is populated by the town's sun worshippers.

The Camel Trail is one of the most successful popular walking, cycling and riding routes in the UK, leading through spectacularly beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line linking Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Great for family trips as the route is largely level and there is little traffic. There are bicycle hire shops at Wadebridge and Padstow.
Best explored by canoe, on foot or by bike, this majestic tidal river flows through a gloriously varied landscape, from dark forest, hidden creeks, lush meadowland and timeless villages to the natural harbour at Polruan and Fowey.
A great traffic free and largely level route that is perfect for family outings. At just under 3 miles long, it is an easy and delightful trail to explore.
This 11 mile long-distance footpath and cycle trail links the historic mining harbours of Portreath in the North and Devoran in the South. The trail is mostly off-road and should take about five hours to walk. You can hire bikes at Bissoe, Nancekuke or Portreath.
This is a hilly route taking in forest tracks and quiet coastal and inland lanes in the Looe and Polperro area, as well as a short stretch on a busy road. On reaching the beach section, why not take a break from your exertions?
This fairly energetic route includes five steep hill climbs and some off-road woodland tracks as it follows quiet lanes up the East Looe River to Liskeard, returning via the West Looe Valley. It can also be adapted to start or finish at Liskeard.
Roadford Lake is a pleasant relaxing day out, there are walks of varying length around the shore, there's an array of wildlife to enjoy from insects and wild flowers to waterbirds on the reservoir. Theres is also a Lakeside Cafe and visitor centre giving you the history of the valley and the chance for refreshments.

Gwinear Pitch and Putt is located in an idyllic location in Reawla within in ten acres of beautiful countryside. This short 18 hole course is well designed and well maintained and has lovely landscaping. It is an excellent pitch and putt course with defined tees, interesting holes, fast fairways, semi rough and rough and the greens are through, it is more like a golf course. The course is challenging but fun. There is no need to book or take along any equipment everything is supplied here. Prices are very reasonable adults play for £7 and children up to 14 are only £4 for a round. There is a nice clubhouse cafe that is welcoming and cosy, where you can relax after a round and enjoy the hospitality and delicious range of hot and cold dishes, snacks and beverages that are all made using local Cornish produce and are real value for money. There is also a nice terrace area for those nice sunny days. They are open From February through to October from 10.00am until dusk each day. Gwinear Pitch and Putt offers a fun and enjoyable round of golf within a beautiful location, excellent hospitality, customer service and prices too, a real gem, highly recommended.

Designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, Rame Head's local habitat provides a haven for many species, especially insects and birds — the Peregrine Falcon can now be seen along with many other birds of prey.
Golitha Falls are found within an ancient area of woodland that is next to the river Fowey that, flows past and then turns into wonderful cascades that drop 90 metres in altitude. The ground is pretty level and offers walks that are suited to most abilities, although not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies, as many areas turn into woodland paths with protruding tree roots. The area extends to eighteen hectares of ancient oak woodland and has been classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest owing to the woodland flora found here, with bluebells, wood anemones and much more thriving here. There is an abundance of wildlife as well with many animals residing in this natural habitat including dormice and several species of bat, moths and butterflies. The river is also home to many species of fish including, salmon, sea trout as well as otters. After heavy rain it is pretty spectacular here as the waters gush over the falls. Although it is a popular spot and can get busy it still maintains a sense of tranquillity and is simply nature at its best. Golitha Falls are not huge waterfalls but more like water rapids regardless they are still impressive and a beautiful sight. If you enjoy nature and lovely woodland walks then Golitha Falls will not disappoint.
A large reserve in between the beautiful counties of Cornwall and Devon. The diverse nature of the reserve, from the stunning coastline, inland to wooded areas with heath, grasslands and meadows mean its well worth a visit.
In winter, many birds flock to this reservoir including wigeon, coot, tufted duck, poachard and Canada geese. In the spring, a large number of sand martins, house martins and swallows frequent the area.
Part of the Fal Estuary, The area known as the Carrick Roads is so deep it regularly attracts great numbers of sea-going birds in the winter. Looe beach near Feoch seems to offer the best access for viewing one of the largest flocks of wintering Black Neck Grebes in the UK
The family home to the Tremayne family for over 400 years, this remarkable setting holds a great deal of intrigue and mystery. At the turn of the century decline had set in very rapidly and the gardens were neglected. A storm in 1990 revealed them once again and captured the imagination of those that discovered them. Ties to the 19th century as well as the First World War were found and the daunting task of restoration was begun. Well worth a visit. (Dogs allowed between October and March)
A very English country garden with herbaceous borders and many areas dedicated to different colours of plants. A series of 'garden-rooms' surround the Georgian house. The plants sold here are all grown at Bosvigo and include many hard-to-find species.
Tender trees and plants flourish at Enys, one of the oldest gardens in Cornwall. Robert de Enys lived here during the reign of Edward I, and in 1709, the garden was noted for its fine planting. Today's garden is based on the designs of 1833.

The instructors are highly trained and qualified and give clear and concise instructions on everything from safety through to the equipment. They are really friendly, very patient and encouraging and will ease any nerves you may have. They supply all equipment which, is well maintained so all you have to take along is yourself. After your instructions you are taken in a plane to an altitude of 10,000 feet where you make your jump and it is time to sit back and enjoy the ride. Once the initial terror subsides you get to experience the most wonderful feeling of tranquillity and see the most wondrous scenery below you. A thoroughly exhilarating and memorable experience and something that everyone should try. If you are just spectating or waiting around to jump there is a nice cafe that is warm and cosy and serves a good choice of beverages and hot and cold dishes, all well priced. Callestick Farm is situated in the centre of Cornwall, amongst some stunning countryside and where there is plenty of fresh clean air. It is a family run farm and they have being producing their delicious and wholly natural award winning ice cream for the past twenty five years. Using their own pure, wholesome milk and local cream together with a premier fruits and confectionery they produce a range of tempting and luscious ice creams that you will not be able to resist. During your visit to the farm you can not only see them making their scrumptious ice creams but a collection of farm and more unusual animals who live here as well as play in the play area, set in a courtyard location there are places for you to sit and observe as the children play around. There is a roomy tearoom and shop here that serves a tasty range of wholesome snacks, light lunches, cream teas as well as a good selection of beverages and not forgetting the tastiest and delicious ice cream around. It is a lovely spot that is lively and bustling with a cosmopolitan feel, you can stroll around soaking up the atmosphere or stop for a bite to eat at the Explorers Restaurant and enjoy a tasty dish from their diverse contemporary menu; where possible ingredients are sourced locally and all food is cooked fresh. You will find the staff to be friendly and the service is very good and the prices are also very good, really reasonable. The Lander Gallery is home to a wonderful collection of Cornish art that blends classic and contemporary art in the one space, all pieces have a Cornish influence resulting in some stunning works of art. It is a lovely bright, contemporary space that is spacious and all pieces are well displayed. Lemon Street Market offers an unrivalled specialist shopping experience as well as being a great place to just hang out.
Skinners Brewery is a relatively new family owned brewers to the Cornwall region but they have already firmly established themselves as distinguished brewers and received a number of awards to reflect this. Their award winning ales are produced here using locally grown barley and other local ingredients and traditional methods to produce their fine ales. They are located in the gorgeous city of Truro and you can take a guided tour of the brewery to see first hand the processes involved in producing their ales, you see a short DVD presentation and then get shown around the site, you can taste the hops as well as seeing the brewing process. The staff are excellent, friendly, animated and knowledgeable they make the tour interesting, humorous and informative. There is a visitor centre where you can relax and enjoy a sample of some of their award winning ales in a traditional pub setting. Skinners Brewery is a fantastic brewery tour, one of the best around and should not be missed even if you are not an ale connoisseur.
Poppy Cottage Garden is located in the centre of the stunning Roseland Peninsula, the grounds extend to about one acre and provide a riot of colour all through the year. The planting is arranged into a series of rooms, being individual small gardens that are planted with bulbs, herbaceous, grasses, shrubs and exotic plants, that have all been strategically placed, the lawns are immaculate and there are some water features too. The gardens are predominantly colour themed and it is a truly beautiful sight when they are in full bloom and the fragrances that fill the air are delightful. There are plenty of places for you to sit and enjoy the different aspects of the gardens whilst enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of home-made cake. You will also find a small orchard here with some unusual ducks and chickens that roam around, they are not at all like the ones you normally see. In addition there is a small nursery are with a wide variety of herbaceous plants for sale, excellent quality and well established plants all clearly labelled. The gardens are open most days except Friday and Saturday and there is an entrance charge of £3.50 per person, children are free. The owner is very friendly and really knowledgeable about plants and very hospitable too. Poppy Cottage Garden are delightful gardens with stunning planning and offers plenty of ideas if you are a keen gardener, as well as a lovely escape from the bustle amongst the peace and tranquillity of these gorgeous gardens.
The ATV Centre offers you the opportunity to take part in a fun sport that is growing in popularity. They have the biggest selection of Quads and one of the best circuits around, the track extends to over a mile with long runs, jumps, tight corners and banked corners. They provide all the equipment which, is well maintained and clean, you are advised to wear long sleeve trousers and tops and closed shoes for your own safety. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they are all highly trained and professional. Before commencing you are given full tuition and a safety briefing. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced rider there is a quad and circuit to suit you. It is an activity that all the family or a group can take part in, there are particular quads for those aged six upwards. The ATV Centre offers a safe and controlled environment to enjoy this exciting and thrilling sport in an very organised environment. There are benches at the side or on the footbridge where you can observe the riders or take some photos. The centre is open daily throughout the year and offers excellent value for money, highly recommended if you are looking for a fun and exciting activity.
The Looe Valley line connects the busy market town of Liskeard with the charming fishing port of Looe. The journey incorporates the best of the Cornish countryside with beautiful views, taking in all that the area has to offer from ancient wooded valleys, an abundance of local wildlife, stunning estuary views and lots more. Travelling by steam creates a sense of nostalgia for older visitors and younger visitors will love riding on the choo choo train. The carriage is comfortable and clean. It is a quirky ride in that the driver gets out half way through the journey changes the points and gets in the opposite end of the train to continue the journey. Along the route are Coombe Junction Halt, St Keyne Wishing Well Halt, Causeland and Sandplace, all offering their own attractions. The trains operate daily and trains run hourly throughout the day. Prices are excellent and represent great value. Although only a short route it is scenic route through the valley and a lovely relaxing way to enjoy the beauty of the part of Cornwall.

Truro Cathedral is an immediately recognisable landmark on the landscape, the towers can be seen for miles around, located in the centre of the city it is easy to locate this beautiful architectural building, with its many fine features. The Cathedral has a long history and incorporates part of an old church dating to at least 1259, the first stone for the current Cathedral was laid in May 1880 with work finishing in 1887. Inside a sense of peace and reflection emits from the building which is very calming. The inside is equally as stunning as the exterior having undergone considerable restoration, there are fantastic stained glass windows, spectacular woodwork and carvings, intricate plasterwork, it is so ornate and beautiful, real craftsmanship is on display here. There are guided tours operated by experienced guides who will tell you all about the intriguing history of the Cathedral, they are both friendly and knowledgeable. The Cathedral is open every day throughout the year so visiting couldn't be easier. There is no charge to enter the Cathedral but they do rely on donations and there are boxes around where a donation can be made. Another way of helping is buying one of the guidebooks which are on sale in the gift shop or perhaps a coffee from the coffee shop. Truro Cathedral is a simply stunning historic building with many wonderful features and a rich history too, it is a lovely place to walk around soaking up the tranquil atmosphere and history.
Surrounding a grand castle built in 1808, and home to a National Magnolia Collection, the 100 acres of woodland gardens are a joy to behold in spring. For a special insight, join a guided tour with the Head Gardener or his assistant.
St Hugh's Church is located in the heart of the charming village of Quethiock, in a peaceful and picturesque spot. A church has been on this site as far back as Norman times although there was most likely a Celtic settlement on the site around the 6th century, dedicated to Saint Cadoc. In the grounds is an ancient Celtic Cross that stands at more than 13 feet high and is in great condition, it dates from either the 7th or 9th century. The original Norman church was cruciform. The current church was mostly constructed in the 14th century and is made of sandstone, it is beautifully preserved and maintained. There are many original fine features of this lovely church remaining including the wagon roof a great example of pre-reformation work thought to have been done by the monks of Tavistock Abbey, in addition to brass memorials, marble memorials, a sundial, stained glass windows, a wall painting behind the altar and lovely wood workings, the slender tower that rises from the roof is unusual. It still holds regular services on a Sunday where everyone is welcome to join the friendly congregation. St Hugh's Church serves as a reminder of the social and religious history of England, it has a lovely atmospheric feel and provides a place of solace and for reflection amidst its modest surroundings, worth seeking out if you are in the area and like history and old buildings.

Wheal Peevor is an amazing ancient tin mine site located close to Redruth. The site underwent restoration to make it a safe, educational and enjoyable area for visitors. Work was needed to make the twelve mineshafts safe as well as the three Grade II listed engine houses. There is much to explore here from the three engine houses, remains of mining relics, to the network of tracks and trails that cover the site as well as a great selection of flora and fauna. As you wander around you will come across finder points and interpretation boards that provide a detailed and comprehensive history of the site. It has an interesting history playing an important role during World War One. The engine houses are predominantly ruins but you can get feel of how it would have been, the mineshafts are impressive with some shafts extending to 600ft. There is no admission charge for Wheal Peevor and it is accessible at all times. From its vantage point you get fabulous views of the surrounding countryside, and can enjoy the peacefulness of the area and the lovely walks it provides.
Enterprise Boats is a well established family business offering you boat rides that take you to see some of the most picturesque and beautiful coastlines, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are three boats in the fleet, they are all similar in specification, length and painted in the same colours with each boat taking over 120 passengers, all are excellently maintained. On board you can get a snacks and hot refreshments and there are toilet facilities as well. They offer a choice of leisurely tours that take you past iconic maritime locations, historic houses and landmarks, take you close to ocean going vessels that are anchored up on the far end of Fal, the scenery is constantly changing. All tours are accompanied by an informative and interesting running commentary from the boat's skipper. You will find the staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable and professional and they are very accommodating and happy to pass on local information on things to see and do. In addition they offer private hire for relaxing evening or day charters. Enterprise Boats offer an alternative way to see this stunning area, the tour from Truro to Falmouth take about an hour and a half. The tours are excellent value for money and there are a choice of options available, tours operate on most days during the season depending on the weather. If in the area take time to do one of these fabulous trips you won't be disappointed.

East Pool Mine is located at the centre of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, over two sites that are only about five hundred metres apart, where you will find here a great representation of the former and powerful mining industrial heritage of the area. The main site is East Pool mine that is home to two large beam engines that were powered by high-pressure steam boilers. They are maintained in the towering engine houses and serve as a reflection of Cornwall's days as a world renowned centre of industry, engineering and innovation. The pumping engine here is the biggest remaining Cornish beam engine in the world. The restored winding engine can be seen operating each day. The Discovery Centre offers the opportunity to watch films, see a number of interesting and informative displays and models, and there are knowledgeable guides who have an in depth knowledgeable of the history of Cornish mining and will impart the dramatic history of the area and a number of interesting stories. It is a great family and hands on attraction with special activities to entertain children, including dressing up, and they are able to interact and touch many of the exhibits. There is a small area near reception where you can get tea and coffee, also located here is a small shop that sells a nice choice of mining related items and local history books. Being an old mine there are a number of steps and uneven pathways so might not be suitable for everyone. An imposing symbol of power and authority, dominating the surrounding landscape, Launceston Castle sits on a large natural mound. Bude Castle overlooks Summerleaze beach, and is often used throughout the summer for concerts and events. It was built on the sand by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, an inventor, in 1830 as his home. The castle is now a heritage centre which has galleries, a shop, restaurant and much more.
Cotehele is a charming Tudor estate and was the ancestral home to the Edgcumbe family for six centuries. It enjoys an elevated position above the River Tamar and has a lovely collection of tapestries, arms and armour, pewter, brass and old oak furniture, all collected by the family between 1750 and 1860, some items can be touched, the guides will be able to advise. A real highlight here is the chapel clock, it is very rare and the oldest domestic clock around having been installed in 1489 and still in its original position. The lighting can be quite dark inside as there is no electricity, the house is as it was. You will discover stories about the Edgcumbe family that can be told via a hand-held DVD or by the guides who are both friendly and helpful. There are quiz sheets for the children to complete as well as a play area outside. This historic fortified manor house has lots of architectural features with various styles merged together, although it is considered to be the least unaltered house that dates from the Tudor period. Outside there are well maintained gardens with lots of interesting plants and features, they consist of formally planted terraces, a Valley Garden and walks down to the river, the gardens are stunning regardless of the time of year. The views from the house are sensational especially the viaduct and Tamar Valley. There are different prices for admission depending on what you want to see during your visit, you can pay to see the entire property or just pay to see the gardens and mill. The Barn Restaurant opens daily serving a selection of fresh home cooked meals using local produce, the results are delicious and the restaurant is warm and welcoming with an inviting atmosphere. The Edgcumbe tea-room is located on the "Shamrock" a renovated sailing barge that is moored at the quay, they serve delicious cream teas, in this beautiful and tranquil setting, the tea-rooms are open daily. There is a shop that sells a lovely selection of Cornish food, gifts and plants, second hand books and lots more, there will be something to appeal to everyone. Cotehele has so much to offer you could easily spend several hours here, the house is atmospheric and intriguing, the grounds are fabulous and the restaurants are fantastic, makes for a great family day out, everyone will be entertained here.
