There is also good choice of sandy beaches and coves, including Prussia Cove, Praa Sands and the historic harbour at Porthleven with quayside galleries, pubs and cafés. Within a mile of the cottage lies St Michael’s Mount, rising from the sea like a fairytale castle, accessible on foot at low tide or by small ferry at high tide. With winding streets, cafés, art galleries, craft shops, pubs and restaurants, Marazion is a popular all-year destination. The area has a nature reserve, popular with bird watchers. Horse riding, wind and kite surfing, canoeing, sailing, fishing and cycle hire are available locally. There are numerous sub-tropical gardens, spectacular beaches and stunning coastal walks along the South West Coast Path. Busy Penzance with its long promenade and open-air lido, the small fishing harbour at Newlyn and the quaint village of Mousehole are all nearby. Visit Land’s End, or the Tate Gallery or Barbara Hepworth Museum at St Ives, surf at the famous white sand bay at Sennen or watch a magical production at the Minack open-air theatre. The nearest beach to Cosy Cottage is Mount’s Bay, approximately 1 mile. Shop and pub ¾ mile.
