As well as the excellent walks from the house locally, there are also many tourist attractions to discover, including The Needles Park - one of the most popular attractions on the island, with chairlift, boat rides, coloured sands, lighthouse, amusements and glass making. Also within easy driving distance are Blackgang Chine, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, traditional pottery making, Calbourne water mill, various NT homes/gardens, vineyards, museums, wildlife centres, a zoo, pearl factory, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, Cowes/Yarmouth harbours. Outdoor pursuits include golf (nearby Freshwater), cycling, riding, sailing, fishing and diving. Shops 2 miles, pub a 1-mile walk over the Downs.
