Dating back more than 150 years, these former farm buildings are set on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park surrounded by views towards the Cleveland Hills. Oozing charm and character, each cottage has its own secluded garden and are peacefully located on the edge of the Georgian market town of Stokesley, hosting the weekly market with the cobbled streets lined with an eclectic mix of shops. There are plenty of inns and tea rooms from which to enjoy some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine. Orchard Cottages is an ideal location from which to explore both the stunning North Yorkshire Moors and the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire, surrounded by superb walks and cycle tracks leading into the heart of the moors where some of the prettiest villages await discovery. There’s easy access to Herriot’s home town of Thirsk, and the pretty market town of Helmsley will never disappoint, and a little further is the ancient town of Pickering, home to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway and is well worth the journey through the Esk Valley into the well-known villages of Grosmont and Goathland. A 10-mile drive leads to the Victorian seaside town of Saltburn and this is the place to begin a journey through the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire, discovering tiny fishing villages and rugged cliff top walks affording panoramic coastal views, Staithes, Runswick Bay, the ancient sea port of Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay then Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. There are miles of sandy beaches perfect for family days out, museums, stately halls and homes - the area is steeped in history. Golf, horse riding and swimming pool available locally. Shop and pub 1 mile.
