This traditional twin holiday roundel oast, once used for drying the hops for the local beer, occupies a peaceful and secluded spot on the private country Pelsham Estate, amongst 1700-acres of farmland. Accessed from the estate road via a mile long track, it is ideally placed for admiring the glorious views across the Tillingham Valley (and the local wildlife) from the decked area along the back of the oast or the first floor decked balcony, which is accessed via the kitchen/breakfast room in one of the roundels. The accommodation within the oast is reversed from traditional layouts, with the bedrooms and en-suites on the ground floor and the huge open-plan living area on the first floor, taking full advantage of the floor to ceiling windows at one end providing a glorious vista towards Rye and retaining the beautiful exposed beams and the original hop press. The rural location offers walks from the doorstep, including The High Weald, described as one of the top 10 walks in the UK, which starts at Peasmarsh church. The historic medieval Cinque Port town of Rye is 2.5 miles approx. Explore the Ypres Tower offering views across the Romney Marshes, art galleries, teashops and curiosity shops. Time your visit with one of the many festivals, including the Rye Bay scallop festival in February, jazz festival in August, the arts festival or the colourful bonfire night celebrations. Hire bikes, explore the golden sand dunes at Camber, fairytale moated Bodiam Castle, take a trip back in time on The Kent and Sussex steam railway or visit the many award-winning vineyards in the area.
