Renovated and restored to a very high standard, this circa 1500s half-timbered house is located opposite the pub on the green in a quiet village near the historic Canterbury. Adjoining another property, it is beamed throughout and has a large back garden with lawns, flowers, fruit trees and a secluded patio, and which runs to a shallow, fenced stream, offering a peaceful setting with the sounds of babbling water.
Located in a beautiful part of the Kent countryside whilst being close to the coast, The Bell House is just 20 minutes from sandy beaches and the port of Dover provides day trips to France.
Nearby are many public gardens, including Goodnestone Park - considered to be one of the best gardens in the south-east, and Barnsole Vineyard where wines have acheived ‘quality status’. Other attractions include Dover Castle, Howlets Wild Animal Park, Wingham Wildlife Park, the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, as well as Richborough Roman fort near Sandwich - an English Heritage site from where the Romans launched their successful invasion of Britain in AD43.
There are numerous National Trust properties in the area including, Emmetts Garden, Ightham Mote, Scotney Castle Garden and Estate, Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Smallhythe Place and Stoneacre. The White Cliffs of Dover, also National Trust, are internationally famous and home to five miles of coast and countryside. Most of the chalk downland along the clifftops are a Sight of Special Scientific Interest, an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coast with interesting flora and fauna. The Gateway to the White Cliffs visitor centre boasts spectacular views and introduces the visitor to the area with imaginative displays and explanations. Shops 1½ miles.
