Surrounded by open farming country

Only 2 miles from York, yet surrounded by open farming country, this magnificent holiday cottage has been built to very exacting standards. Featuring original hand clamped bricks and oak floors, it is beautifully decorated and furnished, set in a former farmyard in the heart of the village, approached by a private driveway. The village is just a 5 minute drive from the centre of York, its pretty cobbled streets and alleys offer a variety of shops, inns and restaurants, York Minster, the Viking Centre and The Railway and Castle Museums. Ghost tours take place every night around the old alleys and snickleways. The capital of the Wolds is Beverley which featured in the top ten most beautiful market towns and is set in the Westwood Stray, also featuring a racecourse and a beautiful Gothic minster in the heart of the town. The village has two pubs, banks, a post office and newsagent, a children’s play park, a delicatessen, and a bus service to York every 10 - 15 minutes. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway runs through spectacular countryside through Newton Dale from Pickering to Whitby. Burnby Hall Gardens at Pocklington has a National Collection of water lillies and the carp in the lake can be fed with the food obtained on site. Another popular attraction for visitors is the Eden Camp close to Pickering, which is an original prisoner of war camp and is now a re-enactment of wartime life with military equipment including tank.
