One of a picturesque row of 18th-century stone mill workers cottages, Penny Lane can be found on the outskirts of the village of Rainow directly opposite beautiful sprawling open farmland. Many original features have been retained, including beautiful beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and windows. Contemporary fixtures and fittings include a multi-fuel burner and a ceiling suspended custom-made oak bed, open-plan to an underfloor heated wet room, making the cottage warm, cosy and romantic. To the east are the moorlands and hills of the Peak District National Park, and to the west the Cheshire Plains. Several small reservoirs and attractive woodland characterise the area, with quiet forest walks in nearby Macclesfield Forest, Shuttlingsloe and Tegg’s Nose Country Park. Ample cycling is available around Macclesfield Forest, Wildboarclough, the infamous Cat and Fiddle and Cumberland Brook. The charming village of Bollington with its good selection of bakers, delicatessens, public houses and restaurants is just 3 miles away, and is also home to the start of the Gritstone Trail, known to some as the finest walking in Cheshire. Popular and historic Peak District towns and villages such as Bakewell, Buxton, Castleton and Eyam are all easily reachable, as are the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall. Gawsworth Hall with its summer open air theatre is just 20 minutes away, and the vibrant city of Manchester can be reached on a direct train from Macclesfield. Shop 1½ miles, pub serving food ½ mile.

Two steps to entrance. Beamed living room with multi-fuel burner in stone fireplace with kitchen area, stable door and solid oak floor. Narrow, spiral, open-tread stairs to first floor: Beamed double bedroom with 5ft solid oak bed, exposed stone wall and en-suite wet room with toilet.
