"A perfect rural retreat - rustic, comfortable homes surrounded by woodland and nature reserves..."

Tucked away on the edge of the historic Georgian market town of Holt, situated just a few miles inland from the North Norfolk Coast with its wealth of sandy beaches, RSPB nature and bird reserves, these converted holiday barns (refs CWT and CXC) make perfect retreats for discerning larger family groups, and offer spacious and comfortable accommodation boasting beamed interiors, wood-burning stove, limestone floors, en-suite bathroom facilities to most bedrooms and well-equipped farmhouse kitchens with granite work surfaces.
Situated within landscaped grounds with an unfenced natural wildlife pond, they are within walking distance of Holt market place, with its many very attractive buildings and the back streets leading to courtyards with their cafés and plenty of shops to enjoy. The town is served by a unique horse drawn coach service known as ‘The Holt Flyer’ connecting the railway station to the town, which is about three quarters of a mile away, at Kelling. The North Norfolk Railway (the Poppy Line) runs along the Norfolk coast onto Sheringham. Holt Lowes is within a few minutes’ drive or 30 minutes’ walk away and has been recognised as an outstanding site for wildlife. It is designated as an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and as an SAC (Special Area of Conservation). Holt Country Park, covering more than 200 acres of woodland and heathland is a similar distance away. It is made up of woodland dominated with Scots pine and native broadleaves and is home to abundant wildlife goldcrests, greater spotted woodpeckers, emperor dragonflies and deer. Excellent walking and cycling can be enjoyed from the doorstep and the property is ideally placed for bird watching with RSPB nature and bird reserves. The North Norfolk Coastal Path offers excellent walking and rambling opportunities. One of the routes is designed for ease of use by the less mobile or for families with pushchairs. Interesting features within the park include a totem pole, carved stile, play area and viewing tower. There are many stately homes in the area which merit a visit. These include Holkham Hall (an 18th-century country house located adjacent to the village of Holkham, constructed in the Palladian style) and Houghton Hall (residence of Great Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole) with magnificent interiors. There are also NT properties Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall as well as Sheringham Park, Walsingham Shrine and Priory ruins which offer interesting day trips. A half hour’s drive away is the city of Norwich with excellent shopping, restaurants, cathedral, castle, theatre, cinema, pubs, cafés and weekly markets and the famous Norfolk Broads. Good cycling opportunities from the doorstep. Cley-next-the-Sea and Blakeney quay, 5 miles. Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham for excellent sandy beaches, 12 miles.
