Set in the centre of the charming market town of Leek, this Grade II listed, large, end-terraced, Georgian town house was formerly owned by the Earl of Macclesfield, and now offers a good standard of holiday home for groups or families. The house combines historic elegance with contemporary amenities, comfortable furnishings and state-of-the-art entertainment systems. Within a couple of minutes’ stroll are a selection of restaurants from gourmet to cosy, real ale pubs and, takeaways. The neighbouring pub serves meals from 8am until 11pm. Leek, a former silk milling town, is full of beautiful buildings and is on the edge of the Peak District National Park, a good centre for exploring Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire. Roaches Rocks offer a natural adventure playground, and Rudyard Lake, 3 miles, has boat hire and a miniature steam train. Tittesworth Lake has a kayak/canoeing centre plus fishing. Cheddleton Steam Railway, pony trekking, cycle trails, canal dayboat hire and superb walking are within 6 miles. Little Moreton Hall, Biddulph Grange Gardens, Quarry Bank Mill, Lyme Park, Tatton Park and Dunham Massey (all NT) are within easy reach.
