Dating back to 1630 - when it was originally established as a coaching inn - Old Monmouth lies in the heart of the popular seaside resort of Lyme Regis and forms one of a row of properties, just 100 yards from the seafront. Full of character, it offers spacious holiday accommodation for 16 people - with seven bedrooms (five en-suite) and also has many period features, including beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplaces and pine wooden shutters.
Old Monmouth has endured a chequered history with Monmouth’s cavalry lodging there in 1685, being visited by Oscar Wilde in 1891 and used by the Americans as a HQ during the war. This unique property is an excellent holiday home to enjoy Lyme Regis with its famous Cobb, beach, shops and cafes, and also to explore the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. There is superb scenery, coastal walking, golf and fishing on the doorstep, and within easy driving distance are Bridport, Charmouth, Beer, Seaton and Sidmouth. Weymouth, with its Deep Sea Adventure, Timewalk and many other attractions also makes for a good family visit. There are a host of National Trust properties to visit, as well as Forde Abbey and Gardens - whilst inland, the Yeovilton Air Museum, the Haynes Motor Museum, Sherborne Castle and much more provide alternative days out. Shops 200 yards, pubs and restaurant 100 yards.
