Dating back to the 17th century, this Grade II listed Yorkshire longhouse was a traditional working farm until 1997. Sympathetically renovated with great care and attention to detail, this unique holiday property, adjacent to the owner’s home, now retains the charm of a bygone era alongside high specification modern-day facilities. There are open beams in abundance, an original range fireplace; stone flagged floors, period furniture and sumptuous furnishings throughout. This spacious farmhouse is ideal for couples and extended family gatherings, where celebration meals can be enjoyed around the dining table beside the wood-burning stove. There is a delightful spiral staircase leading from the ground floor bedroom to a mezzanine library, where guests can curl up with a good book. Wheelchair users and disabled guests are warmly welcomed and carefully provided for, as the cottage meets the National Accessibility Scheme criteria. Visitors can enjoy the private fold yard and also the grounds where there are two wildlife ponds and extensive views towards the Hambleton Hills. This is a popular area for walking and cycling with numerous footpaths in the area and beautiful countryside in the Vale of York and the North Yorkshire Moors. The famous steam train departs from Pickering and transports visitors to the ancient fishing port of Whitby, renowned for its Captain Cook connections, miles of sandy beach and delicious fish and chips! Visit Eden Camp modern history theme museum, abbey ruins at Byland and Rievaulx, and stately homes at Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall. There are quaint market towns at Malton and Helmsley, pretty villages at Hovingham and Coxwold, and numerous traditional inns and gourmet pubs offering generous Yorkshire hospitality. The historic city of York (26 miles) appeals to all ages with its exquisite architecture, magnificent minster, museums, art galleries, river boat trips and ghost walks. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Beamed living/dining room with wood-burning stove and wooden floors. Beamed farmhouse-style kitchen with range (for cooking) and tiled floor. Breakfast room with tiled floor.
