Standing adjacent to the Old Vicarage, the owner’s home, as well as overlooking the ancient village church, The Verger’s Lodgings has been carefully and sympathetically converted to provide a comfortable, tranquil holiday cottage. The décor and furnishings respect the history and charm of the property and the spacious first floor living room enjoys countryside views and a traditional open fire. Adding further character is a limestone floor in the kitchen and oak flooring in the bathroom. The picturesque village nestles in an area popular with walkers and cyclists, and is surrounded by a wealth of quaint market towns and National Trust properties. Visit Kirkbymoorside, 6 miles, with its weekly market, Hovingham, 8 miles, with its village bakery and Helmsley, 9 miles, which boasts dramatic castle ruins, a beautiful walled garden and Duncombe Park, where the Northern International Centre of Birds of Prey is situated. Nunnington Hall, Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey are all close by. From Pickering, 8 miles, visitors can board the famous steam train for a scenic journey through the North Yorkshire Moors to the fishing port of Whitby, with its Captain Cook and Dracula connections. Easily accessible are the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey, and the historic walled city of York, 27 miles, with its abundance of attractions including the Castle Museum and Jorvik Centre.
