A very large, traditional cottage situated on the Cumbrian coast, looking out over the estuary, in the village of Bowness on Solway. Renowned as the start/finish of Hadrian’s Wall, there is a pub and tea room in the village where walkers can enjoy some well-earned refreshment. Highbank is well equipped with the benefit of three bathrooms, a wood burner, conservatory, a large garden with views across the estuary to Scotland, plenty of parking and Wi-Fi. Table tennis is also available in the gararge. This part of the Solway coast is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Bowness Sands is extremely popular with bird watchers, where you can spot oyster catchers and waders along with many other birds. Bowness itself is built on the site of a Roman fort, the second largest on the wall and is steeped in history. The historic city of Carlisle is 10 miles away and both the Lake District National Park and the Scottish Borders are a 30-minute drive away.
