This delightful, detached bungalow is centrally located in the village of Shap, and offers immaculate holiday accommodation. Shap, ’Gateway to the Fells and Lakes’ is situated on the eastern edge of the Lake District National Park, and the village offers a wide range of amenities including a good selection of pubs, shops, an outdoor heated swimming pool, a children’s play area and tennis courts. This is an ideal base as the immediate rolling countryside of the Eden Valley provides superb walking and cycling, and the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales are only minutes away. The atmospheric, rugged area of Haweswater, 5 miles, has a viewpoint for golden eagles. Pretty villages and bustling market towns abound, with a lively calendar of farmer markets and county shows. There’s plenty of local produce to purchase or enjoy in the many restaurants and pubs serving regional favourites. There is excellent road access to the historic border city of Carlisle with its castle and museum and Hadrian’s Wall, a world Heritage site, has interesting exhibitions to visit. The Northumberland National Park and southern Scotland are both within an hour’s drive. There are Roman ruins, castles and historic houses nearby, as well as a museum in Carlisle. Shops and pubs 100 yards, restaurant 300 yards.
