Grasmere; set in 42 acres of the ‘Yellow’ Earl Lonsdale’s former shooting mansion, surrounded by sights, sounds and smells of the woods and becks with a footpath onto the fells. This simple but comfortable ground floor apartment (shown left of left photograph) is an excellent choice for those who love nature and the great outdoors. To top it all, from the long wooded drive, it’s only a stroll to excellent dining, shopping and Grasmere’s cultural experiences which have made this heart of the Lake District village so famous and popular. The ‘big house’ now a country hotel, is open to guests and offers a drying room for wet gear, a bar for drinks, use of the huge sitting rooms and breakfast (by arrangement). A truly unique place to stay and an experience of how Grasmere used to feel before it became so well known.
