Originally built in 1857 as a police station, gaol and courtroom, Derwent Court now houses nine apartments. This property is on the ground floor, overlooking the well-tended communal gardens and has private parking. Presented with great care and attention to detail, the apartment offers a very relaxing stay in the delightful village of Escrick. Here visitors can enjoy a choice of eateries including a traditional pub, serving good food and ale, a gastro pub and also a Thai restaurant, or a ‘chill out’ day can be booked at the spa in the local hotel. The vibrant city of York is just six miles away with easy access by car or park and ride from the popular designer shopping outlet. York appeals to all ages; you can step back in time and discover how the Vikings lived, climb to the top of the iconic Minster, visit the numerous museums and art galleries or walk the city walls and cruise along the River Ouse. It is one of the best gastronomic destinations with delectable restaurants, trendy bars, traditional inns and famous tearooms. The surrounding area offers an abundance of attractions including Burnby Hall Gardens, Yorkshire Air Museum and York Maze (July to September, and Halloween). There are stately homes including Castle Howard and Beningbrough Hall, abbey ruins at Kirkham Priory and Rievaulx and scenic countryside in the Yorkshire Wolds, inspiration for the renowned Hockney paintings. The North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and the coastal resorts of Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough and Whitby are all within easy driving distance.
