Situated within Dartmoor National Park, this detached, granite holiday cottage, which dates back several hundred years, is just one mile outside the delightful village of Chagford, a charming small town with a good range of shops and eating places. It is close to the Teign Valley gorge and Castle Drogo (NT), two of Dartmoor’s best loved attractions; the coastlines of both Devon and Cornwall are about one hour’s drive. Also within easy striking distance. On the doorstep, is the rugged expanse of Dartmoor, its wild beauty changing colour with the varying seasons, its picturesque villages, Dartmoor ponies and Tors. This lovely and popular part of South Devon has much to offer, with glorious beaches, meandering estuaries and some very pretty countryside. Wander along pretty streams, explore rambling woods, and trek over undulating hills. There are so many attractions close by including River Dart Country Park, a miniature pony centre, Dartmoor Zoo (where the story for the film ’We Bought a Zoo’ came from) and Finch Foundry, a working iron foundry with a tea room, are all close by. Lustleigh is a quaint village with thatched cottages and a tea room, which is a must for a Devon cream tea. Golf is available locally at Bovey Castle, 4 miles. There are some very nice sandy beaches at Bude, Tintagel and Saunton Sands, or visit NT attractions such as Castle Drogo or Agatha Christie’s home ’Greenway’. Don’t miss the attractive city of Exeter with its Roman heritage. There is bird watching at the nature reserve in Dawlish Warren, or for walkers, enjoy the many footpaths Dartmoor has to offer. Shop 1 mile, pub ¾ mile.
