This charming holiday cottage is the middle one of a small terrace of three, with fields to the rear and rolling countryside views to the front. It’s a peaceful, rural setting, yet less than 1 mile from the village and local amenities of Marshfield. The cottage has been sympathetically renovated to retain its character, and features the original bread oven, reclaimed slate floor, and shutters at the windows. The fully enclosed courtyard garden is a delightful spot from which to enjoy the uninterrupted and far reaching views, and is ideal for keen walkers and cyclists, with the Cotswold Way footpath nearby. The village of Marshfield lies on the southern edge of the Cotswolds and is just 6 miles from the Roman city of Bath. From its 12th-century church to its more recent 18th century High Street, the village proudly displays its architectural heritage based on the old wool and malting industries. Marshfield boasts two fine pubs, a tea shop, village store, butchers, newsagents and post office. Marshfield’s proximity to Bath, 15-minutes drive, and Bristol, 25 minutes, make it an ideal base for exploring both cities. Bath is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site and boasts Roman baths, a medieval abbey, a wealth of Georgian architecture, and wonderful shops, whilst the historic maritime port of Bristol offers many visitor attractions. The Severn Bridge is 20 minutes by car and gives access to south Wales. The beautiful villages of the Cotswolds are within easy reach, as are some famous Wiltshire sites, such as prehistoric Stonehenge and the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral. The area offers a wealth of National Trust and English Heritage properties, such as Bowood and Longleat. Nearer to home are the quintessentially English villages of Lacock and Castle Coombe, and the lovely Dyrham Park and Westonbirt Arboretum. Badminton is just a few miles away, home to the annual horse trials. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
