These fabulous apartments, with stunning views across the Exe estuary, were once the home of Captain George Peacock who constructed Panama canal and they provide the ideal base for a really relaxing holiday. Easily accessible by road, rail and water, they sit opposite a small railway station and ferry port to Exmouth’s two miles of golden sands and traditional resort facilities. The fine beach and nature reserve at Dawlish Warren are 2 miles whilst sightseeing and shopping in the cathedral city of Exeter are 7 miles. The surrounding countryside is particularly good for walking and cycling – nearby Haldon Forest is criss-crossed with trails and there is even a cycle track to Exeter from Regent House itself, Exe trail cycleway – and the Exe estuary is great for sailing, windsurfing and all manner of water sports, with tuition for all levels of ability. Guided bird watching cruises are available, river cruises run all year and Jurassic Coast cruises in summer. Some of Devon’s famed resorts – Budleigh Salterton, Seaton and Sidmouth as well as the ‘English Riviera’ resorts of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham – and Dartmoor National Park’s rugged beauty are a little further afield. Shops and a pub serving food are within a 5-minute stroll.
