This imposing, detached, Georgian family home resides in the centre of its own spacious grounds. It nestles on the edge of a pretty village with attractive typically Wealden, weather-boarded houses and old hall houses. There is also a fenced outdoor swimming pool, which is solar heated. All rooms are spacious and there is plenty of living accommodation, making it an ideal retreat for family holidays or a reunion. It is well appointed for exploring the village of Tenterden - known as ‘The Jewel of the Weald’ - and its antique, gift and specialist shops plus excellent tea rooms. Ashford offers the best of a flourishing market town with its rich mix of historic buildings, yet all the vibrancy of a modern international gateway, with Ashford’s International Eurostar station providing an efficient link to the continent. There is a wealth of attractions to visit locally including the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway which chugs through 10½ miles of glorious countryside. Guests can tempt their palette with award-winning wines, ciders and juices at Biddenden Vineyards (Kent’s oldest commercial vineyards), 5 miles. Dubbed the most beautiful castle in the world, Leeds Castle is 6 miles; this fairytale, moated castle offers golf, a fine aviary and a maze. It also hosts summer concerts and a spectacular firework displays around November 5th. Canterbury is 18 miles away: visit the historical cathedral embellished with Bethersden ‘marble’, as well as abbey ruins, art galleries, museums, ancient city walls, and churches. Small Hythe place is a local NT property close by. Shop 150 yards, pub 400 yards.
