Set amongst ancient oak woodland, overlooking the Caledonian Canal, Aonach Mor mountain range and Ben Nevis this architect designed semi-detached property is in an ideal location for exploring Lochaber, Isle of Skye, Glencoe, Loch Ness, West Coast beaches and local castles. The Caledonian Canal towpath and Great Glen Way are a 5 minute stroll away. For more active visitors, world cup mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding and high ropes adventure are a short drive and a scenic cable car ride away. Fort William, the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’, offers excellent climbing, walking and cycling all year round with fishing, golf and a variety of water sports available. Bike, canoe and ski hire is available locally. Walking in the area is a major attraction with long distance walks such as the West Highland Way and The Great Glen Way close by. In addition there are hundreds of miles of forest and moorland walks from low level to the extreme of Ben Nevis and other ‘Munros’ around Lochaber.
Travel on The Jacobite steam train made famous in the Harry Potter films or take a short ferry crossing to Mull, Iona, Ardnamurchan and Skye. Local wildlife is abundant; buzzard, heron, otter, eagle, pinemarten and deer can all be viewed locally and many species of birds are everyday visitors to the garden including siskin and woodpecker. Trips to see the seal colony, eagles over Loch Shiel, red deer and whale/dolphin watching are very popular. Highland cattle also graze locally. A butterfly reserve is a short drive along the road.
