The Steading is a beautifully converted, detached, stone holiday cottage, set in its own pretty gardens with superb sea views. The cottage is bright and spacious, with high ceilings and large windows which drink in the wonderful views across the bay. The main living room has a welcoming woodburner and deep sofas. The large kitchen/dining room opens out onto a conservatory overlooking the gardens and the sea. There are two good-sized bedrooms which sleep up to five people and two spacious bathrooms. Situated in the charming seaside village of Aultbea, there are good facilities close by, including a store and post office, and hotel with bar and restaurant. Set in a horseshoe shape, straddling the shoreline and surrounded by hills and open countryside, Aultbea is a lovely place for walking, cycling, canoeing and kayaking, as well as just enjoying the scenery and drinking in the wonderful views. This area of the West Highlands is renowned for its superb sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery. Noted for its temperate climate and warmed by the Gulf Stream, an exceptional variety of plants flourish in the region. The sub-tropical gardens of Inverewe, located here, are simply stunning and offer visitors a memorable day out. The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities and places of interest. Golf, pony trekking, cycling (bike hire available locally) and fishing in loch, sea and river, as well as the opportunity for hill walking and climbing in some of the most spectacular mountain scenery to be found anywhere in the Highlands. Close by is the Ben Eighe Nature Reserve, in the heart of the spectacular Torridon mountains. Here there are walks and climbs for all abilities as well as some lovely picnic areas. Along the coast, there are a variety of water sports and boat trips. The nearby village of Gairloch also has superb beaches, interesting small shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as a whale watching boat which leaves from the harbour. Stone shore 50 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
