These well-situated holiday properties are in the grounds of the owner’s home, and have wonderful views out over the surrounding countryside. The sheltered southern coast of the Lleyn Peninsula harbours a wealth of sandy beaches and coves, the nearest being a mere 1½ miles away. Here a temperate climate offers excellent opportunities for outdoor activities: sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing facilities abound, and there are some beautiful footpaths along the shore. Some of Wales’ best beaches are to be found an easy drive away at the tip of the peninsula: Abersoch and Aberdaron in particular offer wide sandy stretches popular with watersports enthusiasts. Nearby, the coastal town of Criccieth has a sandy beach at low tide and a 13th century castle perched on a rocky headland. Across the bay, Harlech Castle stands as another testament to more turbulent times. For shopping, good dining and a weekly street market, visit the bustling port town of Pwllheli, 9 miles, while the holiday centre of Porthmadog has a wide range of facilities for rock climbing, riding, canoeing and fishing. From here it is an easy drive to visit the beautiful Italianate village of Portmeirion, with its forest walks, gardens and sandy beach. Excellent walking and mountaineering locally. Five golf courses nearby (negotiated rates for local course). Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ mile.
