Tucked away at the head of a small glen above the River Esk, surrounded by the Border Hills, this spacious holiday cottage stands within an acre of a mature wall garden. Ideally located to explore Dumfries and Galloway and Scotland’s Border country - a land of peace and tranquillity, steeped in history, with imposing castles, abbeys, stately mansions and dramatic ruins. Picturesque towns and villages are set in a landscape of rolling hills, wild moorland and meandering rivers. Ramble the moors and hills, discover the coastline, fish the rivers and lochans, ride the bridleways, play the fairways or take a mountain bike challenge. Visit the museums, telling the unique story of the Borderland, and the workshops and galleries which produce traditional and contemporary designs in glass, textiles, pottery and precious metals. The cities of Edinburgh and Carlisle and cosmopolitan Glasgow are easily reached within an hour. Dumfries and Galloway boasts rugged coastlines and secluded beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream and is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, offering an ideal base from which to explore the Machars Peninsula and the Galloway Hills.
