Nearby Amble, reputedly ’the friendliest port’, has a working harbour with boat trips to Coquet Island, a sandy beach and a bustling Sunday market with some excellent seafood eateries and great fish and chip shops. A short drive takes you to the popular Druridge Bay Country Park. Visit Craster, famous for its smoked kippers and glorious walks along the cliff top to Dunstanburgh Castle. It is only a few miles from Alnwick, the Ducal town with its famous castle used in Harry Potter and in Downton Abbey. Guests can discover inland hills and valleys and even a day trip to Scotland is easy accessible from the train station in Alnmouth, only 10 miles away.
