Beautifully furnished with much attention to detail, this holiday property, one of a pair, is situated on the banks of the River Wye, minutes from the centre of the market town of Ross-on-Wye with shops, bars, tea rooms and restaurants. The area offers outdoor activities in abundance such as walking, golfing, canoeing, rock climbing, cycling, riding and coarse fishing on the river bank (daily permits can be purchased locally). Enjoy the Royal Forest of Dean Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its rivers, many lakes, woodland walks and cycle paths or the stunning scenery of the Wye Valley, which can be particularly enjoyed from the view point of Symonds Yat. Places of interest include the mighty ruins of Tintern Abbey, originally built in the 12th century by the Cistercian monks. Visit the majestic ruins of the 11th-century Chepstow Castle as it clings to the cliff above the River Wye. Monmouth is also worth a visit with its wide high street and many shops to indulge yourself! Within easy reach you will find Clearwell Caves. These are natural caves which have been extensively mined for iron ore for well over 4,000 years. Iron ore miners later created a warren of underground passageways, by connecting the huge caverns. The on-site cafe makes this an enjoyable day out for all the family. Puzzlewood is a magical wooded labyrinth of trees and moss covered rocky outcrops, and has been used for TV locations such as Merlin and Dr Who. Close to Cheltenham, Hereford and Chepstow racecourses. Many fine dining restaurants nearby. Shop 500 yards, pub 200 yards.
