Ravenswood occupies the upper two floors of the Victorian Villa Ravensdale House. Accessed by a private entrance stairwell, the spacious holiday apartment has retained many original features. Situated close to the shores of Loch Linnhe and the Caledonian Canal, it has views towards the loch, Ben Nevis and the surrounding mountains. Lochaber, the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’, is home to the World Championship UCI mountain bike course at Nevis Range and many other outdoor activities including skiing, snowboarding, hill walking, climbing, fishing, sailing, horse riding, golf and kayaking are all on the doorstep. The breathtaking scenery has been used as the backdrop for many well-known films including Rob Roy and Braveheart. The Jacobite steam train, which passes the bottom of the garden of Ravenswood daily in the summer months, takes you over the Glenfinnan Viaduct as depicted in the Harry Potter movies on its journey to Mallaig (described as one of the great railway journeys of the world). Enjoy a trip up Aonach Mor on the mountain gondola where, on a clear day, you can see for miles. Wildlife is in abundance and offers the chance to spot golden eagles, deer, red squirrels, otter, porpoises and dolphins. The area is steeped in history and there are many monuments, castles, museums, gardens and craft shops to visit. Mallaig and the Small Isles, Glencoe, Oban, Loch Ness, Isle of Skye and the Cairngorms are easily accessible. Fort William town centre, 4 miles, has a leisure centre, ten pin bowling, indoor children’s soft play, supermarket, shops, bars and restaurants. Two of the big supermarket chains deliver direct to the door. Village shop and pub 400 yards, restaurant 4 miles.
