These two detached holiday properties sit on top of a hill, at the end of a mile-long private drive, overlooking the Golden Valley and with far-reaching views towards the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. The area is renowned for walking and aside from several miles of paths on the farm estate, the breathtaking National Trust parks of the Brecons and Offa’s Dyke are a short drive away. The ‘book town’ of Hay, with its eponymous Literary Festival, is a 15-minute drive away and the Wye Valley offers good canoeing and some fishing. Herefordshire is becoming an increasingly popular gastronomic destination and together with the Abergavenny and Ludlow food festivals, visitors are spoiled with a growing number of award-winning gastro pubs and restaurants. The 270-acre Poston Farm Estate is set off with an 18th-century Palladian villa (designed by William Chambers) and younger visitors will be charmed by its flock of Soay sheep and several Tamworth pigs. The estate’s woodland includes some ancient broadleaves, providing a peaceful cloak, which together with its position, cocoons visitors from the outside world. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Large living room with open fire, French doors to garden, library and formal dining area. Spacious, well-equipped, farmhouse-style kitchen with oil Aga and electric hob, 10-seater dining table, exposed beams and French doors to garden. Separate toilet. First floor: Large double bedroom with 6ft sleigh bed, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. Two large twin bedrooms, each with additional pull-out bed (for +1 child); one with 4ft sleigh beds, one with zip & link beds (can form 6ft double). Bathroom with separate shower cubicle and toilet.
