Set in glorious countryside between the Cartmel Peninsula and the southern tip of Lake Windermere, near Newby Bridge, this stylishly refurbished farmhouse, one of a pair, offers spacious rooms and beautiful views for a relaxing holiday in the heart of the southern Lake District. Situated near a small, family run, quiet and secluded caravan site amidst the woodland and picturesque fells, the farmhouse is a perfect base for visiting the multitude of nearby visitor attractions. Fell Foot Park, two miles away on Lake Windermere offers boating and fishing, from there you can take the ferry to Lakeside and board the boat to Bowness, to wander around the boutiques, galleries, tea rooms and the Beatrix Potter Exhibition. On the other side of the lake is Lakeside village, 2 miles, home to the Aquarium of the Lakes, and the Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway, with the Lakeland Motor Museum near Haverthwaite. The area is a walking and cyling paradise and a scenic drive alongside Lake Windermere through Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside will bring visitors to The Langdale Pikes where many scrambles or hikes lead to the mountain tops with the reward of amazing views. The famous poet, William Wordsworth, loved this area and a visit to his former house, Dove Cottage at Grasmere (opposite the beautiful lake) is well worth while. The southern Lake District abounds with historic houses and gardens, including Holker Hall and gardens, the 12th Century Priory at Cartmel, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall and gardens. Shop and garage 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1/2 mile.
