This holiday cottage, located in the village of High Lane at the foot of the Pennines and Peak District, nestles by the historic Macclesfield Canal. Popular with walkers, it lies on Middlewood Way, a trail also forming part of National Cycle Network Route 55 from Ironbridge to Preston. Cyclists and motorcyclists will also enjoy the route to Buxton through the Goyt Valley. High Lane is a well-known and popular equestrian centre, with several riding and livery stables and farms, many within walking distance. A short bus ride to Stockport railway station from a stop immediately outside the property provides frequent rail connections to Manchester (10 min journey), Sheffield (20 min journey) and elsewhere. Lyme Park, with its house and gardens, is within walking distance and the village itself offers excellent local shopping and eating amenities as well as a wide choice of distinctive and friendly pubs, most providing food throughout the day. Its proximity both to The Peak District National Park and Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Castleton and Buxton with its opera house, and also easy access to Manchester and Sheffield, make this an ideal choice for those seeking a comfortable break in the country with the advantage of enjoying time in some of the UK’s most exciting cities.
