Within a half-hour drive, visit Buxton, the world-famous spa town with its opera house and beautiful gardens; Staffordshire Moorlands’ impressive gritstone edges and craggy rocks; Matlock Bath with its cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham; Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site; ’Blue John’ Caverns at Castleton - home to eight of the 14 known veins of Britain’s rarest mineral and Crich Tramway Village, offering vintage trams to transport you back in time along cobbled streets. Also visit the historic Georgian town of Ashbourne with its beautiful architecture, fine antique shops and stylish boutiques, Carsington Water with rich wildflower meadows, native woodlands, ponds, reed beds and islands; riding and trekking centre near Buxton and four golf courses (Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton High Peak and Cavendish). Further afield you can enjoy the Staffordshire Potteries, Alton Towers, and the National Memorial Arboretum, or you can just relax by the fire or in the private walled rear garden and enjoy the views across paddocks and open farmland.
