This charming, 19th-century, detached Scottish farmhouse is situated on a private estate with a traditional working sheep and Galloway cattle farm, and boasts stunning views over open countryside. The house itself has been completely refurbished to the highest standard as a traditional Scottish lodge offering great atmosphere and comfort. The holiday property is located in a remote setting on the edge of the moors with delightful walks up into forests or over to the main estate with the renowned Glenkiln Sculpture Walk. A hugely popular area with walkers and cyclists of all abilities, the Dalbeattie 7 Stanes cycling trail is close by. There are many sandy beaches and forest trails to explore and also many lovely gardens nearby for those seeking a slower pace of recreation.
The surrounding area offers a tremendous range of activities here for the visitor. Golf courses, sailing, horse riding, cycling, walking and fishing are all available close by, and there are tennis courts and swimming pools in nearby Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Dumfries. There are many quaint villages to explore including the coastal villages of the Isle of Whithorn, Port William - known as the Machars of Galloway and presented with the Pride of Galloway award, and the popular village of Portpatrick with stunning views over the North Channel to the Irish coast. Take a day trip to Ireland from Stranraer. Dumfries with shops, restaurants, museums and theatre lies 10 miles away while Castle Douglas, Scotland’s Food Town, is 8 miles.
