A late 18th century former farmhouse located close to the coast

This detached former whitewashed farmhouse sits within large private gardens and woodland on a hillside near Cardoness Castle, with hill walks directly from the door. Little Boreland is full of character and has caught the eye of many a passing artist, with its charming blue windows and separate dairy. It is an ideal holiday retreat from which to explore the Solway Coast with its sandy beaches and rocky coves. It is within walking distance of the town of Gatehouse of Fleet with shops, cafés, restaurants, Galloway Kilts based at the Kiosk along with other local arts and crafts, and the Mill on the Fleet Visitor Centre. The area offers walking opportunities with countryside, lochs and the Galloway Forest Park featuring cycle paths, walks, birds and other wildlife. There are many local attractions such as Cardoness Castle, Cally Gardens, and the Cream o’ Galloway for its adventure playgrounds and celebrated ice cream. Nearby are many attractive towns: Kirkcudbright, the artists’ town offering boat trips and art and craft shops; Castle Douglas, Scotland’s food town with many specialist shops and nearby Threave Castle and Gardens; Wigtown, Scotland’s national book town, and Creetown featuring the Gem Rock Museum.
