This detached holiday cottage is adjacent to the owners’ home and occupies a wonderful situation just inside the Peak District National Park known as the White Peak, which features much softer rolling countryside than the more craggy and dramatic Dark Peak, and is the glorious setting for this charming cottage. Forming part of the hamlet of Onecote and set just away from its centre, Honeysuckle Cottage can thereby enjoy its community facilities, but at the same time is far enough away to safeguard its privacy. Not surprisingly, there are splendid views all around and short and long walks abound. Stabling and grazing are also available by arrangement with owner. The property is ideally placed for exploring the Churnet Valley, Biddulph Grange Gardens and the famous Alton Towers theme park. At Froghall Wharf in Stoke-on-Trent you can take a canal boat trip on the Cauldon Canal or visit the famous Wedgewood Potteries visitor’s centre. The stately home of Chatsworth House and many other NT properties are also within easy reach. Onecote is a small village which serves as a centre for a farming community scattered around and above the upper valley of the River Hamps in the south west of the Peak District. The houses are attractively built in the local sandstone, with the Georgian-style church at the centre of the village. There is also good access onto the uplands of Morridge, which offer superb views across the to the south west of the Peaks, particularly The Roaches, Ramshsawe Rocks and Tittesworth and sunsets from up here can be spectacular. Shop 3¾ miles, pub 500 yards, restaurant 1 mile.
