Numerous castles (magnificent Bamburgh Castle, 28 miles), Holy Island and St Abb’s Head Nature Reserve are all an easy drive on quiet country roads. Eyemouth is 9 miles, where visitors can feed wild grey seals and take boat trips, and the nearby coastline has crystal clear waters, shipwrecks and marine life - a paradise for divers.
