Great Lathe Cottage is a carefully presented, tastefully furnished, detached holiday property equipped to a high standard, offering the discerning holidaymaker year round accommodation. Take advantage of the welcoming wood-burning stove in winter whilst challenging a friend or family member to a game of pool; take a dip in the hot tub with only the Romney Marsh sheep for company, or relax on a summer’s evening on one of the two decked terraces soaking up the huge skies and sunsets of this unique area. Once the stomping ground of smugglers known as ‘owlers’, who had regular confrontations with the customs men, this period of history is remembered every even-numbered year in August in Dymchurch with ‘The Days of Syn Festival’.
Golden sandy beaches lie within a couple of miles and, with its level terrain, this is excellent cycling territory. Visit the Cinque Port town of Hythe which offers boating opportunities on the canal. Take the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway out to Dungeness and see Derek Jarman’s Garden and the old lighthouse. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park or day trip to France from Dover make very good days out. Lydd airport also provides an opportunity to take a flight to Le Touquet or along the coast on a balmy evening. There are six golf courses, fishing and sailing locally. Shop and pub ½ mile.
