Garth Cottage is one of five stone-built properties in an exclusive development, forming a delightful crescent in the picturesque market town of Helmsley. Situated behind the Church of All Saints and opposite Cannon Garth, an old religious house dating back to medieval times, the holiday cottage stands adjacent to the renowned Feversham Arms and Verbena Spa where day passes are available. Superbly presented with great attention to detail, lovely furnishings and very good quality bathroom fittings and kitchen appliances, this cottage has a private courtyard garden and offers a very special base for a relaxing holiday. Helmsley lies on the north bank of the River Rye and is built around a large market square which incorporates Tudor, Elizabethan and Georgian architecture and boasts an eclectic mix of pubs, restaurants, shops and tearooms. To the west of the square lies the site of a medieval castle and to the north, Duncombe Park, family seat to generations of Lord Feversham, where visitors can enjoy the spectacular landscaped garden, surrounding parkland and International Centre of Birds of Prey. There is an open air swimming pool (summer months only) and a beautiful walled garden. The surrounding area offers a wealth of attractions including stately homes at Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall, abbey ruins at Rievaulx and Byland, quaint market towns at Kirkbymoorside and Malton and family fun at Flamingo Land. The stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors can be enjoyed aboard the famous steam train which runs from Pickering (13 miles) to the ancient fishing port of Whitby. Shop 20 yards, pub 10 yards.
