Formerly the village inn, dating back to 1830, Eagle House has been transformed into a beautiful detached holiday home with a spacious garden and large patio. With a professional interior design flair, the owner has chosen superb quality fabrics and furnishings and a wealth of interesting art work. The rural village of Skerne makes an ideal base from which to explore this relatively undiscovered area of Yorkshire. The gentle undulating countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds inspired the famous paintings of David Hockney and is perfect for walking and cycling, there are fascinating country houses at Burton Constable, Burton Agnes, Sewerby and Sledmere and close by, are two of the county’s finest inns at South Dalton and Lund. Visit historic Beverley, 13 miles, a charming market town with a beautiful minster, cobbled streets and a racecourse, set in the stunning surroundings of The Westwood. The Heritage Coastline is within easy access with miles of sandy beaches at Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough, and from Pickering visitors can board the famous steam train for a scenic trip through the North Yorkshire Moors to the fishing port of Whitby. The walled city of York lies within an hour’s drive and appeals to all ages with its ancient history, fascinating museums, art galleries, quirky shops, street entertainers and pavement cafes. Situated in the village is one of the best stretches of chalk stream fishing and is available to visitors by arrangement. Beach 12 miles. Shop and pub 3 miles.
