With splendid views of the Trotternish Hills and Loch Greshornish, in the unspoilt north of Skye, this 5 star, detached stone cottage is a peaceful, secluded and comfortable retreat on one of the island’s most picturesque peninsulas. Décor and furnishings are to a very high standard and include the owner’s distinguished collection of Scottish paintings; the kitchen has local stoneware, cast-iron casseroles and an induction hob. Every room looks down to the Loch, where in summer the dawn breaks early and the moon throws a silver path across the water. Skye is the ramblers’ paradise where the Cuillin Mountains can be tackled by climbers or easy walks taken along cliffs and foreshore. The nearby Trotternish peninsula offers some unusual rock formations, where a combination of volcanic basalt and softer sandstone and limestone has caused spectacular landslips and sheer cliffs.
The island, renowned for its excellent seafood and wonderful restaurants, has something to suit everyone. Visit Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point Lighthouse and the old fishing village at Stein. The ‘Blackhouse’ Museum at Duntulm shows how islanders lived in thatched stone houses; the Aros Centre in Portree shows how the sea eagle has been reintroduced on Skye. Ferry trips can be made to the Outer Hebrides or a boat trip into the Cuillins. Tour the island by car or take an easy walk around the 4-acre garden and to the secret shores of Loch Diubaig or just walk out of the back door for 10 minutes for a glorious view of the Ascrib islands. The setting has it all, inviting relaxation and discovery with glimpses of the wildlife, birdlife and sealife. Shop 9 miles. Pubs and restaurants 4 miles.

First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed and en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Twin bedroom (zip & link bed). Single bedroom. Study. Shower room with toilet.
